It wasn't until 4:00pm that I finally decided I was going to the
7:00pm talk by
George Takei at U-Penn. But boy am I glad I did:
The event is his first stop on a criss-crossing-the-country lecture tour Mr. Takei is doing to promote Marriage Equality and Coming Out.
If you haven't caught on yet from the pics, the
Human Rights Campaign is the main sponsor of the lectures.
And oh yeah, he's a wonderful speaker. He poignantly tied his experiences as a Japanese-American detainee (in Arkansas during World War II) to the dangers of "selective" equality the far right is trying to foist upon us today. It was quite moving.
Yay HRC! I might even actually join now... ;-)
