I'm looking, dammit!
During the course of the presidential campaign, I began to notice a certain pattern in Obama's speech. Far too often, he starts his sentences with "Look.....", as in "Look, we've been over all of this before."
As soon as I noticed it, it started to annoy me. It comes off as pretentious, like he assumes his own superiority. (Fred Armisen has picked it up splendidly for his SNL impression.) However, that being said, until he proves otherwise, Obama is pretty much superior to most of us. So I can deal with it.
Except now, EVERYONE is saying it. "Look..." is the new "Really??".
I know I'm not imagining it. Listen for it.
