It was thrilling, disarming, and a little scary letting my guard down for once, and to spend at least one evening not shielding myself with cynicism and distrust in our political system. It was strange beyond words to see things work out the way they're supposed to for a change.
And even I teared up a little, to see the unlikely "next first family" standing on a stage in front of more than 250,000, smiling and waving. Barack Obama's acceptance speech might be the most inspiring thing I've ever heard.
It makes me feel ever so slightly better about the state of the world my kids are growing up in.
God, I hope it lasts. History has a way of working against people who inspire so many, so strongly.
