Furuba!

I have finally gotten all of Furuba, an anime series more commonly know as Fruits Basket, Yay! I got volumes three and four earlier this week in the mail, and was waiting for the second one to arrive, which it finally did on Saturday and I picked it up Sunday evening. Then Kyra, Lauren, and I watched all of the second DVD... Although I should have waited, since I told Joe I'd be back online to talk with him after I returned from a party in Little Tokyo. I really am sorry for making you wait so long, dear.

Speaking of that party... It was interesting. Lauren and I got invited to it since we're part of the Asian and Pacific Studies department, and I took Kyra along as my guest. It wasn't really a party that most college students would think of going to, though. It was a viewing party at the Japanese American National Museum for the work of Isamu Noguchi, a famous Japanese-American artist. The Smithsonian was able to get some of his work for viewing around the United States, and the JANM was one of the places picked for the event. We got free sushi (very good, especially the handrolls), sake (although I only had a few sips of Kyra's since I was driving), and coffee. We saw a few of the professors there, such as Dr. Wang and Dr. O'Brien, and other faculty members from school, mainly Pat and Cecilia from the Study Abroad office.

What else has happened since I last posted... Well, Kyra's birthday was on Friday, so we had a party (where I made tacos and Kyra made a funny looking - yet very good- cake that I later decorated) then went out for karaoke. That was so funny, and Satoshi is such a ham! ^.^ He sang the most out of everyone there, and even then performed mostly older Japanese songs. However, Kyra, Lauren, myself, and a few others got up and sang "I've Got a Lovely Bunch of Coconuts" to everyone's amusement and laughter. That song is still stuck in our heads, and all one of us has to do is hum the tune or say one of the lines and we start laughing and singing it all over again.

Saturday saw us lounging around, and Kyra, Lauren, Yuu, and I went Barnes & Noble so Lauren could get her mother a birthday gift, then we all went to Venice Beach to look for some mask thing Yuu's cousin wanted. He ended up buying this gas mask with a pipe on the end... Thing is, his cousin doesn't even smoke, he just thought it looked cool when he saw it during his last visit. Afterwards we went to Santa Monica and walked around, but it got rather windy and a bit cold... That wasn't a whole lot of fun for Kyra or myself since we were both wearing skirts. Kyra had on a shorter skirt than me, though, and she had to hold it down at times so it wouldn't blow up!

There's more that went on, but I don't feel like writing about it at the moment... Besides, I have a class I need to get ready for. Bah.

all we need is music, drinking, anime, birthday time, friends, food is tasty, baking
