I'll tell you something, Cory, and this is something I have a little trouble digesting myself. High school doesn't matter at all, except in relationships with two things:
1) It provides a good foundation for surviving and getting into college, where you discover how to make an impact on the world.
2) it provides some nostalgic irony when you look back as a trillionare with a supermodel wife. ("Gosh, and to think I had such a unremarkable high school experience!")

My mother told me yesterday that a certain person (going to Harvard on a sports scholarship) would be begging for a job from me one day. It made me feel really awkward. I don't particularly like that kind of irony, to be honest. Even if we turn out ok in the end, I don't want to think that the people who are "popular" in high school are destined to be failures. It was comforting to know, though, that the best years of my life probably haven't happened yet.

I will tell you, though, that it is *much* better to have an identity crisis now as opposed to in thirty years. In all sincerity, I wouldn't worry about social interaction for the last 9 years, as you only bring the good stuff with you. Believe me, Cory, you have the skills needed to straighten yourself into a type of person who will look back on your high school experiences, acknowledge it was not as good as it could have been, and then look forward again. Basically, don't sweat the small stuff, because you can always take just the good parts of high school with you.
