(no subject)
[ the sneaky little communicator turns on with a very unassuming buzz. At first, there's static. There's always static. But then.. it becomes clear: there's a smudge on the right hand side of the view, something white and sticky. Either way, there's two boys in the view, standing side by side as they seem to be busy doing some... preparation. There is silence for a few moments until, after a brief but very intense staring, the blond with his long hair held up by clips (?) turns to the brunet beside him and speaks. ]
"Hey... Riou." [ pause ] "...I didn't notice before, but. You've become really experienced, huh?"
"Oh, yeah. I kind of had to after a while. We had some strange guy..." [pause] "Hai Yo was his name. He showed up and offered to cook for the army, but after a while a lot of strange samurai like cooks would show up and I'd get stuck helping him cook for these competitions..."
[ Jowy blinks and mumbles something and then he seems to sputter-- ] "S-samurai cooks." [ it takes a while to sink in and then-- ] "Wait, Riou. We were at war... and you were... you had cooking competitions?!"
"I had to! These guys kept coming and coming and, I didn't really want to take the time out for them, but Hai Yo would just come begging like... like... well... begging." [He chuckles some then looks around cautiously] "It's not like I could send Nanami to help him."
[ Jowy stares again... then cautiously looks around too. ] "I know what you mean, you'd have effectively poisoned your own army--" [ pause ] "But t-that's not the point! How did you even find the time between-- between... everything! And Samurai Cooks."
"I don't know! I just kind of... did! Usually it'd happen when I got back." [Riou sighs]
"I think some of them were ninjas too..."
"Ninjas." [ he sighs too and then seems to sniff ] "And you still won, huh? Even with that... the intelligence never said anything about that... "
"Intellegence?" [And now he's puzzled.] "Were you spying on us? Wait! If you were spying, why didn't they say anything to you about it?" [He pauses for a bit, thinking] "You know, I kept seeing this guy there every time one happened, and he was always eating a lot of the leftovers..."
[ Jowy tenses a bit... but then relaxes. ] "Highland's always had spies in the City States, Riou..." [ he pauses and he has a look of horror. ] "... It probably wasn't ours."
[Stops and thinks about it] "Really? Well... I don't think they were very good ones. They didn't tell you about the cooking." [And he kindly leaves out the part about how the Unification army always seemed to win.]
"...yeah." [ and he goes silent here... ]
[ and the sneaky little communicator decides to sign off... but not before a telltale yelp and screech. Wonder what that was...? random fanart here; shmuff.]
