When cute girls attack!

Continued from here.Health class drew to a close and Utena lifted her head from her desk, suppressing a sheepish smile as she rubbed bleary eyes. Whether Serra-sensei hadn't noticed her sleeping or simply hadn't chosen to chide her in front of her classmates she didn't know. Slinging her bag over her shoulder, she slipped out of the classroom, ( Read more... )

"Utena-sama?"

Hino Rei's head turned towards the girlish squeal, her long midnight hair following a half-second later. A small smile crossed her face as the Seer noticed her older friend standing in the middle of the hallway, with another Japanese girl straddling her back, being carried along not unlike a bookbag.

Speaking in their native tongue, Rei called out to the twosome. "And who, pray tell, is trying to assault our fair Prince?" She chuckled, showing how little seriousness was meant by those words. "You must be Wakaba, I assume?"

Not too far away, the sensitive ears of a young Slayer also caught Wakaba's gleeful exclamation. Turning her head, Katelyn curiously watched as another of Utena's friends leaped onto her, allowing the Prince to fully support her weight. "Oh!", the brunette said with a huge grin on her face. "That looks like much fun!" Copying Wakaba's actions, she ran up to Utena and pounced on her from the front, similarly wrapping her arms and legs around her older friend's shoulders and waist.

[OOC: I couldn't resist.]

Utena wobbled on her feet as Kate pounced on her, letting out another "oof" of surprise.

"Kate-" Before Utena could finish, Wakaba put her chin on her friend's shoulder and looked into Katelyn's blue eyes. "Who are you and why did you jump on Utena-sama?"

Still clutching onto the tallest of the three girls, Katelyn looked over Utena's shoulder to respond to the newcomer as if it were completely natural to hold a conversation in such a situation.

"I am the one called 'Katelyn'. What are you called?" Her blue eyes blinked in minor confusion as she tried to think of an appropriate answer. "Why did you jump on Utena the Prince?

Wakaba blinked, as though it had never occurred to her not to jump on Utena. It was just what she did.

"I just do," she announced, staring into Katelyn's eyes again. "Are you Utena-sama's girlfriend? Is that why you jumped on her front?" Cocking her head to the side, she waited expectantly for an answer.

Between the talking girls, Utena blushed, glancing carefully away from the conversation, catching Rei's eyes. She's never going to let me live this one down...

"I am a girl. And I am Utena's friend..." Katelyn wondered aloud as she tried to think of what Wakaba meant. "But! You jumped on one side. So I jumped on the other...?"

"Because Utena-sama always carries me on her back," she stated matter-of-factly. "She doesn't usually carry people on her front, though. Do you, Ouji-sama?"

Utena smile ruefully.

"Not usually," she replied. "But it's okay, Katelyn's my friend."

Glancing at both girls, she asked a casual question. "Is there anywhere in particular I should be carrying you girls?"

Now that Wakaba had finished questioning her, Katelyn snuggled closer to her friend as she carried her. Nuzzling her face into Utena's neck, she quietly spoke. "I do not, have any place to go. That was my last class today."

The excited girl turned from her position on Utena's back and looked at the dark-haired speaker with a curious expression.

"Hai, Wakaba desu!"

The shrine maiden simply stood to the side, watching the scene unfold with no small amount of amusement. Any normal girl would have long since buckled under the weight of two of her classmates leaping onto her, both latched on to her with no apparent signs of letting go. Rei smirked, both at the two girls' childish antics as well as Utena's determination to stay on her feet despite that. Otherwise the girl stood there gracefully beside the lockers as if it were an every-day occurance.

"My, Utena-sama", Rei said as casually as she could, keeping a straight face and trying not to laugh at the somewhat odd sight. "Our Prince Charming sure seems to be popular with the ladies these days..."

Glancing over at Rei, Utena's mouth quirked as she mouthed "not the right ones, apparently" to her best friend, trusting that she would catch her meaning.

Shifting slightly under the weight of her two friends, Utena waited for them to finish their conversation, wondering what would happen next.

Unable to hide her amusement anymore, Rei flashed her friend a quick smile while the other two girls chattered on blissfully unaware. She shrugged her shoulders, feigning ignorance. I dunno...As long as she's not trying to break your ribs, you could definitely do worse?

She coughed into her hand, clearing her throat as she once again put on a serious face. "I think I still see some room off to your left side, since the other two are conversing across your right shoulder. Should I hop on as well?"

Utena shot her friend a look that clearly said "not funny, Rei", and followed it with the one that said "a little help here?"

Clearing her throat, she used her free arm to gesture at Rei.

"Shinohara Wakaba, meet Hino Rei."

Rei pensively put a hand to her chin, briefly exchanging glances between Katelyn and Wakaba wondering which one Utena expected her to carry. A small but visible grin was still present, showing the one student paying attention how amusing Rei thought all of this was.

After the moment of indecision, the Seer walked towards the side of her friend to which the young Asian girl was hanging onto. "Hajimemashite," the miko politely said while extending her hand in Western fashion, "and welcome to the United States." Though not a formal introduction in the slightest, Rei hoped that the American tradition of shaking hands would cause Wakaba to release her grip on the Slayer who struggled just to remain standing.
