RP log Shishido and Ohtori

Dated: The night of the 26th.
Summary: Vacation separation leads to phone aggravation due to some frustration, a little desperation, and ends in fluffination~ XD

Shishido looked at the empty fireplace and sighed, he was tempted to light it, but that would probably be too much of a give away that he was currently crashing in Ohtori’s room. He’d warm up from his outdoor flying soon enough, especially since the white down blanket he had first seen Ohtori in was covering the bed and had a way of moulding around his body.

With a small shiver he flipped open his phone and looked at the time. It was just a few minutes before midnight, so he hit the speed dial and waited. Listening to the phone dial and ring. He was actually a bit anxious as he waited for the other to pick up. He could remember calling Ohtori over and over again and getting no answer. Deep down Shishido knew that he was wondering if Ohtori would answer this time like he said he would. He knew that if he didn’t it probably just meant he fell asleep, and not that he ran away again. But some things were still healing and didn’t like listening to reason.

He didn't hear the first bars of "Flight of the Valkyrie" until the phone started to vibrate off of his bed spread. He'd been laying on his old bed at home, staring at the phone since about 11pm. Waiting for that call, and had admittedly dozed off. Jumping, he grabbed the phone before it started falling to the floor and pulled it to his ear, hoping he hadn't lost the call during that little mess.

"Hello?"

Shishido smiled as the other end was picked up and Ohtori’s voice came through, “Ohtori, it’s Shishido.” He took note of the length it time it took answer and the fumbling as the phone was turned on. “Did I wake you?” He asked, he’d let the other go back to bed if Ohtori was tired, even though he didn’t really want to.

"No- I just..." He flopped onto his back and stared at the ceiling, "almost dropped the phone, I wasn't paying attention to the settings and had it on vibrate." Laughing a little at his own stupid mistake, he reached a hand up to play with his short silver hair. "How are you doing?"

“I’m good. Just got back from flying. I was feeling cooped up enough to put up with the cold.” He tucked his wings up around him some more, “It felt really nice to have the wind in my hair and just fell free.”

"That sounds nice. How was your Christmas?" He rolled over again and stretched, trying to keep quiet enough to not upset his family. They might like to sleep during the night, but he just wasn't much for sleeping lately. "It's awfully cold out, so try not to get sick, okay?"

“Don’t worry, I’m taking care of myself. Besides, I have a solid immune system.” Many thanks going to his mutation for that bit too. Shishido thought about his Christmas, it was tradition in Japan to open your gifts on Christmas eve, but he’d open them all as he got them, never being one for patience. And as he wasn’t going home until the 26th, he really couldn’t say that his Christmas was all that great, since he spent most of it avoiding people around the Brotherhood. Not wanting to upset Ohtori’s good mood, he lied. “Christmas was fine. Maybe a bit boring. You know what it’s like here though…” He certainly should because Shishido wasn’t about to try to explain it.

Mm. That didn't sound all that convincing. "I know you do, and hey, I'll be back on Monday morning." That'd be nice, he'd missed Shishido horribly, and soon found himself hugging Chicken and wanting to go back a little earlier. "So, have anything interesting going on at the school?" Probably not, he knew he'd be lonely there if Shishido were gone...

“In case you forgot I leave Monday morning to go my parent’s house.” Shishido bit back the sigh that wanted to escape. Stupid plans forcing him to just miss Ohtori. “I’ll be back early on the 28th though.” He added on.

Shishido tried to think of anything interesting that had been going on. He couldn’t tell him that he had been out robbing stores and causing a some minor mayhem with Kamio, and he didn’t want to get in to the debacle that had led to in Saeki’s room either. Instead, he stuck to safe topics. “Oshitari’s back early, so I’ve spent some time with him, Saeki and Kamio. Nothing that amazing though.”

"I know- I was hoping to at least catch you for a hug before you go." He blushed a little and smiled slightly. "So at least you aren't lonely, that's good. I was sort of worried." Oshitari was a good person to be around and probably a good influence. And Kamio was a friend of his so there was again, no need for concern. "And maybe...we can hang out after you get back?"

A hug? That would be nice actually. “Maybe we’ll still cross paths. I can see if I can talk my dad into coming by a bit later to pick me up…” Shishido said, hoping that didn’t sound too stalkerish. “And I thought we already made plans to hang out together when I get back.” He teased a bit, “Unless you’ve forgotten about me already.”

"Not at all-" He smiled more and hugged a pillow to his stomach, rolling over. He'd failed to hear his sister creep into his doorway to listen into the conversation. "I'd love to see you sooner; I've missed you a lot more than I thought I would."

Shishido smiled and felt less lonely at the words, “Me too. I’m not really used to missing people… it’s not that fun.” He missed Ohtori when he ran away, but that was a different type of missing, filled with different emotions. This time, the missing was bittersweet, knowing that the separation would make them meeting again be that much better. It was the type that had him breaking into Ohtori’s room and calling him on Christmas just to hear his voice.

"It's tough, but at least this is a short separation." Not like the summer was going to be. That would be a nightmare, and then medical school out of the country, and ...he was not going to think about sad things right now. That wasn't fair to either of them. "It's really nice to hear your voice."

Shishido laughed despite himself, “Get out of my head! I swear I was just thinking the same thing.” He crawled up the bed still smiling, so he could snuggle against a pillow, breathing in the scent of Ohtori and hair products he had bought him. “Let’s try to keep all the separations short. It would take work, but I think we could do it if that’s what we wanted.” In Shishido’s world there was no good reason for not being together as often as they wanted.

"You are the one who said something about following me to Europe first." He teased a little, missing the feel of warm wings over him when he slept. It wasn't fair..."We'll make it work as long as we want. I know it can last." Did he hear a giggle at the door?

“Hey, it doesn’t matter to me what country I’m in when I get my degree. Planned on doing long distance courses anyway.” He said blushing a bit. He still felt a bit embarrassed at how he had just blurted that all out, and even more when he realised he meant every word. He was determined to make this work, and he knew since they first started on this path that it wouldn’t be easy but Shishido wasn’t known for taking the easy path anyway. “Everything in life that’s really worth it, you need to fight for, right?” He asked, just knowing that Ohtori would feel the same way. If he didn’t he would have given up on Shishido a long a time ago.

"Yeah, I agree..." He slowly shifted to glance at the door, and smiled. So she was listening in. Big sisters were so cruel. Ah well, he started to focus his energy a little, trying to keep it from interfering on the phone call beyond some slight static crackling. He zapped out a small bolt at the crack in the door and got her, all that could be heard for a few seconds was more static and then a loud shout of "Choutarou!" The teen returned, laughing a little, in spite of the knowledge he'd be chastised in the morning for giving his sister a serious case of hair frizz the night before a date.

“What was that?” Shishido asked blinking and trying to press the phone closer to his ear to hear more. Was that a girl’s voice? It was hard to tell with the static… “Were you using your powers?” A smile was slowly growing on his face, had there been a spy to their conversation?

Trying to brush down his hair, he blushed and nodded sheepishly even if Shishido-san could not see him. "Yeah- I sort of was...and ...that would be my big sister..." That sounded so lame. Great.

Shishido chuckled again at Ohtori’s explanation, wondering just what he had done to his big sister before thinking about something. “You’re not going to get in trouble or anything are you?” He knew some parents didn’t like their kids dating before they were done highschool and stuff like that. And then a worse thought popped in his head, what if his family insisted on meeting Ohtori’s ‘girlfriend’ only to find him instead. He could feel his feathers ruffling just at the thought.

"Oh no...I just gave her a little shock. She'll be fine." He'd just get scolded for using his powers inside, and fighting with his sister. Then later, his Dad would probably tell him about how impressed he was that his son could now focus on it and control it better. So of course, he wasn't too worried.

“Oh, that’s good.” Shishido said distractedly, his thoughts stuck on Ohtori’s father plucking his wings when he found out exactly what his intentions were towards his sweet, nice innocent young son. Oh God, he was a dead man… “She’s not going to tell your parents is she?” He managed to choke out wondering why he ever thought visiting Ohtori’s family was a good idea.

"Yeah- she probably will, but my parents are usually pretty nice about things like this." They hadn't been too happy the first time he blew the house's main circuits and then the back up generator. But then again, they also knew he wouldn't hurt anyone. "So- tell me about your family?"

Shishido relaxed into this blankets and then he tensed again. Ohtori had had other relationships that his parents knew about? Had they met with Kaidoh? Shishido supposed that if Ohtori’s father was working with mutants than he probably wasn’t that adverse, or at the very least was getting used to physical mutations, so Kaidoh probably wasn’t too much of a shock… except of that whole being male part. Shit. “Your parents know your… gay then?” He asked into the phone quietly as if the room was listening in, too worried with his own thoughts to hear Ohtori’s question about his family.

"What?" He wasn't sure he'd heard him right at all. He could feel his cheeks burning brightly, but at least since he could hear the shower running he knew no one was listening in now. "No no...They don't know that...I mean- I guess it wouldn't be much to them, what with the whole being a mutant first thing...but no...I don't think they have any idea....why?"

Wait, how did that make sense then. Shsihido was beyond confused, not to mention planning a trip to the artic where he’d be far away from Ohtori’s father despite the not convincing reassurance that they’d be cool with it. “But you said they were nice about things like this… did you date girls too? Because I’d think they know you liked guys if you brought Kaidoh home.” And he was proud of himself for not growling out Kaidoh’s name at all.

"...I meant shocking my sister, Shishido-san. I don't know how they'd handle me...being...you know." He looked at his door to make sure it was locked, "I introduced Kaidoh just as a friend and my room mate back in the dorms..."

Oh… Oh! Damn he was an idiot, or they both were. Weren’t people who were dating supposed to be at least on the same page. “So she won’t tell your parents about you dating someone?” Shishido was relieved, but at the same time a bit disappointed. It would suck completely if Ohtori’s parents freaked out or yelled at Ohtori, but it would sort of feel nice to know that they approved, that they could look down at Shishido and give him a nod of approval… Oh god, he was delusional. Maybe the cold had addled his brains. He groaned and buried his head in the pillow, phone barely staying by his ear.

"She might tell them that, but they'd assume it is a girl and then just...you know. Be all parental and give me another talk on the birds and the bees or whatever..." He blushed, he'd barely survived the last talk about those things. He'd have been fine, but his parents insisted on doing things together. So he got both sides of the story, including statistics by his father...and unfortunately- diagrams by his mother who quit teaching to be a stay at home mom up until recently.

So he was going to be a girl… Shishido sighed again, he guessed it was better than being a target in hunting season. “Do what you need to.” He said, hoping that the lecture wouldn’t be too bad. Not like Ohtori had to worry about getting him pregnant or anything and any idiot could figure out that protection was a good thing. And no he wasn’t thinking about his threesome experience that definitely had no protection. Ugh, liquid oozing out of there was not fun.

"I'm just not saying anything. It's safer that way." He sighed and flopped back into his bed, it was cold and too big if there wasn't someone with wings taking over the majority. "No point causing a stir quite yet, ne?"

“Yeah… good plan.” Shishido said, not knowing why he was getting so grumpy about this.Maybe a topic change as in order. “You were saying something else earlier?”

"Oh! Yeah, I was asking about your family. What are they like?" He hesitated a little, biting on his lower lip before deciding Shishido had brought it up first, so it was ok. "Would they...you know, be upset about you seeing me?"

Shishido fidgeted a bit on Ohtori’s bed, wings ruffling. “They’re a pretty typical family. Older brother’s at university, father’s a grade school teacher and my mom works at home.” He bit back another sigh before it became habit. He seriously had no idea how his parents would react. He’d never had to think about it before. Maybe he’d test out the waters a bit when he was home. “I have no idea how’d they act. They’ve sort of given up on me though so they’d probably be ok with it. Actually, knowing them, once they get over the initial shock, they’d probably just be happy I’m happy.” He said, a bit surprised by his answer. He was just saying things as he thought about it, and was amazed to realise his parents probably would be cool with it all.

"They sound really wonderful." He had to smile a bit, deciding he knew for a fact the other would have a good holiday at home in spite of his doubts. That made him smile a little more. Things were going to be ok. "You'll have to tell me all about your trip home when you get back, okay?"

Shishido blushed lightly at the compliment to his family, “They’re more boring than anything.” His family had a nice routine, one that was purely typical of almost any Japanese family… wings sprouting from their youngest son’s back had messed that up a bit. But they were coping fairly well, even if they didn’t advertise the fact. “And I’ll tell you anything you want to know.” He said thinking that being able to talk to Ohtori face to face and maybe even touch him and hold him. Oh yeah, he’d tell Ohtori any damn thing he wanted for that. Though that could be some of his melancholy talking.

"It still sounds really nice. Maybe...if we're still together...later on, maybe...you can meet my family? I'd like that a lot." He was fidgeting slightly, suddenly wanting to hug the other tightly. It'd be so nice, but...he was not one to hold his breath entirely. "I wish you were here."

Shishido’s breath caught in his throat slightly at the heartfelt things Ohtori was saying to him. He couldn’t see the kid to see just how much emotion and truth were behind those words, but he didn’t really care. “I wish I was too.” He said hastily, then felt the need to add on, “Only if you could assure me your parents wouldn’t pluck and kill me.” He didn’t think he had to tell the other again that he planned to see this thing through. He wasn’t planning on learning German for his pleasure.

Smiling, he felt his eyes getting a bit moist, so he wiped them on his sleeve and swallowed to settle his voice. It was wonderful to hear that Shishido felt the same. That made him so happy, but in spite of it all, he laughed quietly. "I swear my Dad wouldn't pluck you or anything like that, he's not like that."

“Just kill me straight up then? That’s a bit reassuring. At least I’ll die with feathers intact.” He chuckled a bit, trying to break the intense mood, though it felt a bit weird to do so when all he wanted to do was tell the other that he missed him and his company enough to resort to breaking into his dorm room to sleep on his bed.

"No, just torture you with long lectures." He laughed back, hugging his pillow closely and wishing it could be his winged boyfriend. He hadn't realized how lonely he felt at home, that was a strange thought. "And the feathers would just get ruffled, my Dad gets a bit- loud when he argues."

“Long lectures?” Was that a feeling of dread settling in his stomach? Shishido had a feeling that no matter how he met Ohtori’s father or how much warning the man had to get used to the idea of Shishido dating his son, he would still get these long winded talks. His feathers ruffled at just the thought, and the guy wasn’t even around to yell at him. “Who said I’d be arguing with him. Just a bunch of smiling, yes siring and promises saying I won’t molest you, hurt you, or be a bad influence in anyway shape or form.” So he had a bit of practice with crazy fathers protecting their daughters from the heathen boy. But it seemed a lot more intimidating when he thought about it coming from Ohtori’s father.

He smiled a little and played with his hair again, just because Shishido touched it before they separated. "You've had practice then? I swear, Dad about traumatized Mika's latest boyfriend. I think he had some paperwork or something done. And had a background check on him and everything..." But that was possibly a Father/Daughter thing. "But it might be different with me, what with being a boy and all of that."

Oh hell no. Was it too late to find the nearest exit and get off the inevitable collision course he had with Ohtori’s lawyer father? “I don’t think I’ve had enough practice for this.” Shishido said with dread. What type of parent had paperwork and background checks done. “Oh shit… I have a record.” He said with shock and fear. And not a Brotherhood type record either because he’d never been caught for any of those activities. It was when he was part of the track team, it was stupid they went out and vandalised a neighbourhood park to celebrate their winning regionals. If he knew it would screw up his chances with a future mate he wouldn’t have done it. “But I swear I did my hours, I have a perfect record after that. Even have my applications all written up for university too.” Oh hell, what if he did school background checks too. He failed half a school term due to illness. Would that count against him? Was it getting hard to breath?

"You what? But what did you do?" Of course, he had a record too, but it was for murder, but he couldn't really be tried as an adult, and it was a proven accident, but still- his Father might not like this based on the severity of the record...not that he was jumping ahead of himself and worrying about introducing Shishido to his parents as his boyfriend yet or anything..."I-I'm sure if I let them know how good of care you take of me, Dad'll go easy on you. I mean...you are definitely a lot nicer than my sister's boyfriends..."

“I spray painted some benches and knocked some garbage cans over.” And was caught half drunk and holding a spray can when the cops came, but that didn’t need to be said. For being the dash specialist of the team, Shishido remembered thinking most of his teammates wouldn’t do half bad at the speed they took off and left him there. Maybe that’s why it wasn’t that hard to leave the school. He didn’t turn them in, but he wasn’t friends with them after that either.

Shishido was starting to think that the artic was looking nice again, what exactly did being nice entail for a man that had contracts made up and did background checks? “It’s not like you’re going to tell him about me any time soon though, right?” Suddenly, Shishido found himself not minding if Ohtori’s parents ever knew he was more than a friend or hell, even acquaintance to Ohtori. Approval was not nearly as nice as living.

"Why did you do that?" He was surprised beyond all reason that Shishido-san would do something so- juvenile, stupid, dangerou- well, juvenile might be the best word for now.

"No time soon...I thought I might sort of see what they think on the matter of me dating at all..." He sat up and stared at his door again, feeling guilty for talking about his parents at all. He didn't know what would happen, it was all speculation. "Maybe right before I leave for Germany."

Shishido slumped into the pillow, great, now he felt like a bastard. “The guys and I were celebrating our regional championship, I guess after a few drinks, that this one guy brought in, we were all feeling a bit bold. So we went to the park and wrote our school’s name and stuff all over it. It was stupid. Trust me, I don’t enjoying doing community service and having parents with their small children glare at me as I repaint stuff and clean up garbage.” He felt like dirt for weeks, though it hardly stopped his parents from adding to his misery and grounding him. Not that he really noticed as he was no longer talking to most of his friends by that point.

“I don’t think that’s a really a plan Ohtori. Running won’t solve anything.” Shishido said, the voice of wisdom for once. Though he did think that having Ohtori’s parents get used to the whole dating thing in general might be a nice step. One heart attack at a time.

"That was ..." He had to stop and reword it, not wanting to upset his boyfriend. "As long as you learned, I'm glad you weren't hurt thought. That could be dangerous." As opposed to some of the missions they were sent on? Ha.

"I know it isn't a plan, but it's kind of a fun thought. Running away together and all.”

“I won’t be upset if you just tell me that was stupid. I know. It’s not like you see me spray painting random park benches for fun do you?” Shishido asked, wondering if he had just managed to crush the perfect vision that Ohtori seemed to have of him.

Shifting, Shishido thought that running away together wouldn’t be so bad, though it probably wouldn’t be fun forever. “I think, I’d rather stay and face the music. It would mean a lot to me to get your family’s approval.” He forced himself to say, bracing for the laughter.

"I know. It's okay. We make mistakes." He actually thought the rebellious side of Shishido was sort of cute. Not that he was going to tell him that one. Save it for nights when he snuck his mother's romance novels off to read them.

He blushed and paused again, snaking in a shaky breath at how sweet that was, Meeting parents had to be scary, but he was willing to chance it... "I'd really like that a lot too."

Shishido smiled slightly, he should have known that Ohtori would be accepting of his past mistakes. He relaxed back into the comforters, noticing just how empty the bed seemed without Ohtori’s long limbs filling it. “Hurry back?” He asked, knowing full well he was starting to sound like some sentimental sop, but it was the holidays and if there was any time he could do it and not sound completely uncool, today was it.

"I'd be there right now if I could." He quietly muttered back into the phone, realizing he had to be quiet if he was going to stay up late and talk to his boyfriend without disturbing others, or being disturbed. "I really miss you right now. It's too quiet and just not right..." He recalled the other's reactions to previous experiences and smiled..."Stop me if I get too mushy or clingy...please?"

“You’re on a phone, how are you going to get too clingy?” Shishido asked baffled. He liked his space and all, but he thought he’d sort of made it clear to Ohtori that he was exempt from most of those limits. And he’d hardly hold it against the kid if he missed him when he was missing Ohtori. “Never complain about the quiet, it’s a nice break.” He added on. Enjoying that the BrotherHood was quieter than normal if still not silent.

"I know. I meant emotionally." He was a bit worried he might become a burden on the older teen, if not downright annoying. He'd hate that. "It can be, but it is almost too quiet too. I sort of like...you know- having someone to talk to at odd hours of the night."

“Oh. I’ll tell you if that happens.” Not that it was likely. Shishido figured that when trying to rebuild trust and a relationship, emotions were probably a good thing. If he just kept rejecting them they wouldn’t get anywhere. Though he realised that there may be times when he’d have to ask the other to go a bit slower, but that wasn’t the same thing.

Shifting some more on the bed, and snuggling more against the pillows, Shishido felt his smile return. “I guess it pays to be dating someone who’s nocturnal then doesn’t it?” He asked with a teasing lilt.

"Thanks." He carefully crossed his room, flicking out the light and checking the hall one more time to make sure no one was listening, before going back to his bed. He was still blushing lightly, but that was ok. When Shishido did it, he didn't mind quite as much. "It does. Sorry I'm not nocturnal either." He might have to work on that part a bit...

“Hey, what did I tell you about apologising for stupid things. It’s nobody’s fault that my mutation decided to like the night, and that yours enjoys a perfectly normal sleep cycle.” Shishido said, looking across the darkened room to the window. “It’s not like we don’t cross each other. And it doesn’t bother me when you fall asleep on me. It’s like you trust me to watch over you…” The last part drifted off to nothing as he realised he was rambling again. He had to get out of that bad habit before it led him somewhere wrong.

"I do..." He smiled slightly, finally deciding to just tell him, "I actually seem to sleep better with you around."

Shishido could feel himself blushing again, and was glad that nobody was around to see him do so after such dorky words. And while he sort of wanted to return them he couldn’t. “I’d like to say the same… but I sort of sleep like the dead anywhere during the day…” That didn’t sound nearly as good as it did in his head.

He winced at a slight thumping sound on the wall and sighed. "Speaking of sleeping...I should probably shut up before my parents come in here." He glanced at the wall again, before smiling. "I'll try to get in early on the 26th so we can at least see each other before you go."

Shishido made a face as he saw the time. They had talked longer than he planned, but he was selfish and was reluctant to let the other go so soon. But he did need his sleep. “Have a good night, and sweet dreams Ohtori.” He whispered into the phone as if whoever had thudded might hear him. “I’ll look forward to it.” He’d call his dad right before he went to bed and ask him to pick him up an hour or two later. Just having enough time to get a hug from Ohtori would be more a tease than anything, but it was better than going without.

He smiled at the near whisper. So cute. "Yeah- have a nice night Shishido-san. Try to keep out of trouble while I'm gone, okay?" He rolled carefully beneath the covers and snuggled against Chicken with a contented sigh. "Goodnight."

“I’ll do my best. Now go to bed. Goodnight.” Shishido whispered again before hanging up. If he didn’t do that, he had a feeling they’d spend another hour saying goodnight to each other and talking about other things. Not that he wouldn’t mind all that much, but Ohtori did need his sleep.

"Goodnight." He sighed again as the phone's dead tone rung back at him. That was....harder than he'd been expecting, just saying goodnight. Oh well, putting the phone up on the nightstand, he spared a quick glance at the small picture of Shishido still set as the background and wished it goodnight too before rolling over and going to sleep.

ohtori, shishido
