RP log - Oishi, Eiji, and the fishies. :3

May 12, 2006 10:17

Date: Super-ultra-hyper back-dated. Uhm... kinda some weeks after Eiji's arrival, I think. Which would be, like, late September/early October.
Rating: PG/light PG-13.
Summary: Oishi arrives to Ryuhana. Eiji's dream comes true. And both are utter dorks. :3

"These dorm doors... they're all alike..."

The short-haired healer looked at the one he was standing right in front of. 317, a doubles room, and it was located in front of a big tree. It had taken him a bit to find it thanks to the aforementioned problems, but now that he could see the number itself there was no doubt.

"317. Here..."

Oishi had no problem with sharing rooms. As the ex-captain of his tennis team and his classroom's president during junior high, many times during training and/or school trips he was asked to share rooms with kids who has troubles in the club, to lend them a hand. This was different, though... he didn't know almost anything about the boy he would, from now on, kinda "live with" for the rest of this year and the next one. Only that he had a physical mutation.

He'd have to find out, and this was the perfect moment. Oishi slowly left his bags and boxes on the floor, opened the door and peeked in...

Eiji was currently napping on his bed, sprawled out in a rather uncat-like manner. So most cats slept all curled up ... some cats didn't, and sometimes Eiji didn't either. He was tired of living alone, and dreaming of having a roommate, someone who could share his room, and talk to him, and perhaps even enjoy the big tree outside like Eiji did.

His cat ears picked up the opening of the door, and in an instant, Eiji was awake, body still, but eyes opening, looking at the door. It was opened a crack ... and someone was peeking in!

"Hoi!" Eiji said, sitting up. "What are you doing? Who are you, nya?"

Just like he was told, his roommate had a physical mutation. And what a notorious one... if pleasing at the sight, what with the kitty ears and tails. The boy in front of him seemed to be nice, too, if not really aware of who he was...

"Who am I?," and Oishi smiled at the boy reassuringly, trying not to cause a bad impression, as he opened the door some more and brought his things inside. Carefully - one of the boxes contained a tank for his two pet goldfish, who were currently inside of the transparent and water-filled jar (with is respective and tightly-placed lid, too) he held in one hand. He'd have to make up for this later. "I'm Syuuichirou Oishi. And I take you're my roomate Eiji Kikumaru, then?"

"Roommate?" Eiji blinked. "I have a roommate now? Hoi, no one said anything, but I've been asking for one for so long!" Awake instantly, he bounced off the bed, and glomped his new roommate, forgetting that Oishi was holding a jar of fish. "Hoi, hoi! This is great! We're going to have so much fun!"

Remembering himself, Eiji then let go sheepishly, and grinned. "Heh, I should probably help you instead of making you drop things, nya. Here, let me take that." He took hold of the jar of water with fish inside, meaning to put it on Oishi's table until everything else was settled. "Call me Eiji! And you're Oishi!" He laughed, mispronouncing the name.

"... No one told you?" Oishi blinked a little, surprised at the fact. But then again, this boy *was* sleeping until he came in, so he most likely was notified through e-mail and never checked it. Oh well, that didn't matter anymore... he *did* like his first impressions of Eiji Kikumaru, who seemed to be a rather bubbly and cheerful individual.

All of this was kinda cut-off when Eiji glomped him... which almost caused Oishi to drop the jar with fish and all. But he held on to it firmly, hoping the poor goldfish inside wouldn't die of shock or anything...

"Oh, it's no problem, since you didn't break anything and the fishies are alive... Eiji." He smiled as he pronounced Eiji's name. He liked that, too, and it seemed he and Eiji would get along more than fine.

"Then, Eiji", he added, "would you help me to find them a good place in our room, please? The fish tank is among my belongings and the same goes to the rest of the thing I need to make the fish comfy here..."

"Eh, heh, yeah, I haven't really been keeping up with my mail and stuff, they might have e-mailed me," Eiji confessed with a sheepish shrug as he placed the jar fish on Oishi's table. Eiji liked Oishi already. He had a kind smile, and he obviously liked animals, since he had fish for pets. Looking around, he grinned. "Hoi, we can set up your tank on the dresser, that should be reachable and not too high, nya? Where's the rest of your things? I'll help you move!"

"More than fine, Eiji" and Oishi took the jar to place it on the dresser, smiling a little apologetically to the goldfish. Soon, they'd be free to swim in the small tank he brought to Ryuhana. And the rest would come later... it did seem to him that Eiji wouldn't be difficult to live with.

"The rest are at the door, and I didn't bring too many things. One of the boxes has the tank and the stuff for my fish, so please bring it carefully..."

"Hoi, hoi," Eiji said, mock-saluting with a cheerful grin. He ran outside, and laughed. It was plainly obvious which box held the tank and other fish-related items--someone had drawn a big fish on one of the boxes. Picking it up, Eiji oofed a little. It was heavy! He made it inside, though, and carefully placed it on Oishi's table.

"Oishi can set up his fish, I'll get everything else," Eiji declared, and went back for more boxes.

"Wait, Eiji...," but the catboy had already went for it, so Oishi (still a li'l shocked at the other's inexhaustible energy) followed him quickly. He took the heavier boxes and bags himself, leaving the lighter ones to Eiji as a way to compensate him a little for any problems this could've brought him.

When both boys were done, Oishi smiled softly. "Take a little rest while I set up the tank and then the fishes, eh Eiji?"

After that, Oishi took his time. He carefully everything he needed from the box, took the tank to the closest rest room to clean it up a little more (yes, he remembered to clean it throughly before packing, but some more wouldn't hurt), placed ornaments and gravel in the bottom, let the faucet leak a little water before filling the tank itself... Soon, he was done, and then he took the water-filled tank to the room and placed it on the dresser. But he didn't dump the goldfish right on... to prevent them from getting sick due to temperature changes, he taped the jar that still contained his aquatic pets to the tank and sat down.

"They have to get used to the temperature first... they'll be ready in a short while. Until then, Eiji, why don't we talk a little?"

Eiji tried to get heavy boxes too, but Oishi knew which ones were heavy, so in return Eiji tried to bring in boxes faster than his new roommate. That tired him out--he was already breathless and panting a little, and he gratefully sat down on his bed.

Watching Oishi carefully set up the tank, Eiji marvelled inside at how detailed Oishi was. The other teen cleaned the tank carefully, and then actually let the fish get used to the water temperature first! "Nya, you're really good with them, Oishi," Eiji said, stretching out on his bed and yawning lightly. It wasn't a tired yawn, more of an interested one.

He blinked a little, then grinned, rolling on to his stomach to watch Oishi on his chair. "Talk? Hoi, sure, why don't you tell me about yourself?"

"Oh, since that's what you want, no problem," and the older youth stretched a little before starting. "You already know my name, so... Next comes my age. I'm 17 years old, a newly-arrived second year student in Ryuhana, and my powers... Uh, what's that? You're hurt?"

Eiji hadn't noticed or covered it very well, but he had a scratch on his left hand. Possibly adquired it when they were setting up Oishi's belongings. It didn't seem to be severe, but even then Oishi got up from his chair and went towards Eiji to see what was up with it.

"Don't move, Eiji, let me check. Trust me, I know what I'm doing."

Without hesitation, Oishi placed his hand over Eiji's injury. A very soft glow enveloped his palm as he started to concentrate, his powers coming into scene as Oishi healed Eiji.

"Nya?" Eiji sat, confused, as Oishi stood up and walked towards him. When Oishi picked up his hand, Eiji he blinked. "Hoi, what are you doing, Oishi?" Not move? But what _was_ Oishi doing?

Then Eiji stared as his hand seemed to glow. "Unyaa ..."

It wasn't long before it stopped glowing, and Eiji blinked, looking at the back of his hand again. Wasn't there a scratch before? It took a half-second, and then Eiji grinned, looking up at Oishi. "Wow. That's some cool power, nya."

"Thank you, Eiji." Oishi smiled. But it was a kinda tired smile, since healing Eiji right after they were half-done with his actual moving into their room drained him a little. This was the kid who fainted right after healing a sprained ankle once, after all... but Oishi did his best to try not worrying the catboy. "It's nice to see people appreciating them. I suppose I'm lucky, eh?"

To return the favor, he sat by Eiji's side and touched his cat ears. It didn't matter to him that others would see a gesture like that as either stupid or crazy, or not proper of boys his age. "Your ears are cute, too. I like them."

"Hoi," Eiji said. "I wish I had useful powers. I just look like this and make everyone around me feel the way I do." His mental slider was actually not quite all the way down, just because it was easier to leak a little energy rather than bottle it all in. It helped Eiji work on his control too, though that just made him tired faster.

He shifted a little as Oishi sat beside him, and then he felt a touch on his ears, and they twitched, flicking a little. "Thanks for saying they're cute. Do you know, you can scratch behind them, and it's just like scratching a cat, nya!" Eiji had always been a little oblivious to societal norms related to touching--he glomped people wherever he went and was always free with his physical affections, so having someone else touch his ears wasn't weird to Eiji.

"Well, as a way to show you that I'm happy to have you as a roomate..."

Oishi did just what Eiji mentioned: he wrapped and arm around the other boy's waist to keep him steady, and then his long and callused fingers scratched behind Eiji's cat ears, first carefully, then more spontaneously. It made him happy to see Eiji, just like any cat who enjoyed a good life with their owner, liked physical contact and didn't reject his touch...

He was surprised at the instant chemistry between both of them, to say it honestly.

Oooh, that felt good. Eiji stretched a little, his head arching upwards into the scratching. It was tentative at first, but then Oishi's arm around Eiji's waist kept the cat boy steady, and the scratching was firmer now, and oooh, that spot. Eiji purred happily. "Oooh, Oishi's so good, nya ... unyaa, yes, right there, mmm ..." Someone willingly scratching his ears just right ... Oh, Eiji was in heaven.

And Oishi was glad to comply. He kept scratching behind Eiji's ears, secretly laughing at how this new friend of his enjoyed these simple little things so throughly...

But then, Oishi was the one who lost balance and he fell on his back, accidentally pulling Eiji on top of him... and on the floor.

"Huh?"

"Unyaa?" Eiji said, landing on top of Oishi with an "oof". How did they end up here? Oh, right, Oishi had been holding Eiji's waist ... probably slipped and pulled Eiji with him. Eiji grinned, deciding Oishi was a good landing pillow, and poked Oishi's nose. "Hoi, that was silly," he laughed. "Come on, nya ... comfy as this is for me, the floor's not very comfy for you."

Slightly dazed, Oishi looked up at Eiji, blinking. "Youre right, Eiji... Ouch, you're heavier than I thought."

Once Eiji was off him, Oishi sighed and picked himself up from the floor as well. "Also... I think the fish shall go into their new tank now. The water's surely okay."

"Now? I want to watch!" Eiji said, scooting over to Oishi's bed, where he had a clear view. He was excited, and tried to keep the slider down as much as possible. Oishi might need to concentrate--he shouldn't distract Oishi with his excitement. Maybe later once the fish were done, Oishi would scratch his ears some more--he was very good at that.

"Watch as much as you like," Oishi said as he un-taped jar and tank. During the following minutes he was almost fully concentrated into checking the last details and making his fish comfy in their new home, but he didn't fully forget that he had Eiji watching over, so he did his best to let the cat boy have a good view of his actions.

It didn't take him long to be ready; his two goldfish soon were happily swimming in the tank, checking their new surroundings and looking kinda pleased with it. Too bad Oishi couldn't read their thoughts to have their "full opinion", but hey; it was good enough to have them here in Ryuhana.

He turned to Eiji and smiled. "Thanks a lot for your help."

"Eehh? I didn't help at all," Eiji said. "Hoi, you're really good, I bet your fish love having you for a master, nya!" He'd been having a lot of fun watching Oishi settle his fish in. "Ne, Oishi, what are their names?"

"You helped me by bringing my stuff," Oishi told his new friend, "and that *was* very helpful. I would've lost time without you here for me; that's why I'm thanking you. Give yourself more credit, Eiji."

He stared at the tank; yep, the fish looked comfortable. "They're always been 'the fish' for me; somehow, I don't fully need to give them names. But if you have good suggestions, go ahead and tell me! I'd like to hear you."

"Eh, me?" Eiji couldn't think of one name, let alone two, and his brows furrowed, ears twitching. He pulled on his tail, wondering what to do, when he looked carefully at the two fish. One of them seemed to have two feelers, and it did look something like its owner. Watching the fish, Eiji grinned.

"Hoi, we'll call that one Oishi, nya," he said with a grin, pointing.

"... Like me?" Oishi 's face felt suddenly hot, and he was sure that he was blushing. Though the idea was tempting; after he caught them last year in a summer festival's goldfish catch booth, his sister said it looked a little like both Oishi himself and their deceased father.

"Well...," he scratched his cheek a little. "Okay, Oishi-fish is his name. And the other... hmmm..."

"Hehe," Eiji grinned. "They live in the same tank, and we live in the same room. Why not let Oishi's roommate be Eiji?"

The goldfish Eiji was speaking of had brilliant reddish scales, so the idea wasn't bad after all. Oishi laughed a little, then touched the glass wall with his fingers. "Hi there, Eiji-fish and Oishi-fish... Feeling well?"

He turned at Eiji and smiled brightly.

Eiji grinned back. "Welcome to #317, roomie." He stuck a hand out to Oishi, grinning from er to ear. Maybe he was leaking some happiness, but hey, Oishi wasn't bad at all. "We'll have fun, ne?"

Oishi shook Eiji's hand without any hesitation. "Thanks for your welcome, Eiji. We *will* have fun."

eiji 1, oishi
