My Impression on Hyotei 3rd Season
So I just watched the show and want to leave out my thoughts for whoever cares!
It was very nostalgic to hear "Hello Good Day how are you" remixed by the ichinen trio. Since I don't like the ichinen trio all that much I barely hear their songs and when I do get the chance to relisten it is quite nostalgic, weirdly enough.
New Seigaku theme song is quite cool and catchy
New data song is ok-ish I guess, did not leave much of an impression.
New Tezuka theme (Yudan sezu ni Ikou replacement) is pretty good. I love the more serious takes (2nd and 3rd) on Tezuka's Yudan Sezu ni Ikou, I think the original song was a bit generic (lyrics wise) and too happy. And the man's singing has been improving like hell. While it is hard to compete with Shirota, the man can sing. To me he is easily the best singer of all 3rd season so far.
New Hyoutei theme song is awesome. May be my favorite Hyoutei theme so far. New Atobe can dance AND act AND sing. Oshitari has good singing voice but he doesn't feel very Oshitari when he speaks.
They left Shishido and Taki's duet and they did a nice job at it too!
They changed the Oshitari Gakuto duet. Due time I guess, but I can't remember the song at all. Sannin de Doubles is still the same. Yume wo Tsunage the same as second season, very good as always!
New duet for Inui Kaidoh AND for Shishido Choutaro. The lyrics are a bit too fanservicey, but awesome.
I feel like they found a better way to integrate Kabaji in to the whole burning song, it was well done I think. Kinda.
New Jiroh song. Didn't pay much attention but I like how almost everybody who plays in a match gets to sing about the match itself, Fuji being the exception.
New Atobe song with some well done Kabaji integration. If Tezuka wasn't so good Atobe would've dominated the show (even more)
Ikkiuchi once again done. It's an excelent song and may be my favorite duet in all of tenimyu but they need to let it go and try to create a new song that better brings out the strengthes of each cast. The best way to listen to Ikkiuchi is still Katou Kazuki VS Shirota and that is not changing anytime soon guys, break the formula.
I have a very silly "complaint", since I'm a huge fan of the manga, I kinda wished they tried to reinterpret some of the scenes. Like in the match point of the Tezuka X Atobe match, Tezuka uses the zero shiki and Atobe returns it and Ryoma has a flashback on his match with Tezuka and kinda sees the image of the Zero Shiki scoring the point but that image differs from reality and then Ryoma comments on how it "won't go back" (I'm not sure if this was about the ball or about time itself, the translation of the manga I read had it as time but I would have to examine the japanese version). Ryoma's comment is there on the musical but there is no representation of his flashback and if they put it in it would make it crazy cool, I think. I guess it would screw up the flow of the match or something but I don't know, I feel like it would make the tiebreak seem longer (I really don't feel like the musical transmits well how crazy that tiebreak was).
Aitsu Koso Ga Tennis no Oujisama returns... But the Ryoma and Hiyoshi solos are different!! And they are awesome. At least Ryoma's solo was awesome, can barely remember Hiyoshi's actually, blabla gekokujou I'm going to the top blabla.
There was no high fiving and no saying bye bye in the hallway this time around, which really takes away some of the magic (maybe they are tired of touching strangers who may have doubtful intentions about touching them? This is Japan after all). I guess I'll be skipping Rokkaku and Higa.
I really wish I could've gotten a better seat this time around. I'll try what I can to get a good one at the Rikkai show.
It was easily the best show so far in the Third Season! Stellar performance by the boys.
