Comments: Rai was Kame-deprived as well as sleep-deprived.
Rai finished the last of his work with a sigh, sitting up and rubbing the back of his neck. Somehow he'd ended up getting extra work from one of the doctors he was in contact with for his project, so he'd ended up locking himself up in his room to get it finished with no distractions. It was a big relief to have everything finished, and he sighed as he filed the last of the papers. He'd have to find Kame and apologize for ignoring him all weekend. Getting up and heading out into the hallway, he went to knock on his boyfriend's room door hesitantly. "Kame, are you in there?" he asked quietly, waiting for a response.
"Nnn," Kamechirou grunted at the door, not really inclined to get up. He felt drained and boring, so he wanted to just lay here uselessly. Pulling the covers over his head, he curled up in a ball and pretended the rest of the world did not exist.
He had no idea why he was acting like such a miserable turd. He wasn't really good company right now anyway, whoever was at the door would go away soon.
Hearing the grunt, Rai raised an eyebrow and tried the door, stepping inside when he found it unlocked. "Kame are you alright?" he asked worriedly, approaching the lump on the bed, which he assumed was the other man. It was rather out of character for his boyfriend to be acting like he was, and Rai wondered what the reason for it was. Perching carefully on the edge of the bed, he touched Kame's shoulder gently (at least he though it was his shoulder, but he wasn't sure).
Oh, it's Rai, Kamechirou thought. Likely he should make some attempt to cheer himself up, so as not to affect the other man. "Hi," he said, trying for a bit of lightness of tone. "What's up?" he shrugged a bit out of the contact. Kamechirou wasn't much in the mood to be touched.
Taking his hand back as it was shrugged off, Rai tilted his head slightly, examining Kame carefully. "I finished the last of the work the doctor sent," he informed the other man, not reaching out to touch Kame again, although he wanted to, "Is there something wrong?"
"Good job," he said with as much cheer as he could muster. He just couldn't fake a good mood. "Nothing at all," Kamechirou rolled over and away from Rai. He just needed....he didn't even know what he needed. Maybe time.
There was obviously something wrong. Leaning over Kame carefully, Rai looked him over, reaching out hesitantly to touch the other man's hair, "If there's something wrong you can tell me you know," he said quietly. If his boyfriend really didn't want to talk he would leave, but not without making an effort first.
There was something wrong...he just couldn't put his finger on what. How could he expect Rai to fix something not even Kamechirou himself could label? "Don't worry about it," he said to Rai with a shaky grin. "You have paperwork to do, right?"
"I just told you I finished it all," Rai pointed out, frowning slightly at Kame, "And of course I'm going to worry about it, I do care about you even if it sometimes doesn't seem like it," he continued truthfully.
Kamechirou grunted and pulled the sheets over his head. Yeah, but what am I supposed to think if that's what it seems like. If something looks, acts and smells like something, that's normally what it was. "Actions speak louder than words," which was all he said.
Rai pulled the blankets down so that he could see Kame's face again. "I'm sorry," he apologized, "I guess I haven't been very clear about how I feel have I?" he said, sighing. He wasn't good at expressing his emotions, he knew that much. Touching the other man's cheek lightly, he wondered if maybe he was the reason for Kame's mood, then shook his head. He didn't have that much effect on his boyfriend's mood, did he?
Though silent on the matter, Kamechirou did not pull away. There was plenty he could put up with, but there is nothing more painful than being an option to someone you make your priority. Maybe that, and not the Red Bull, had been the issue the entire time.
If Rai's paperwork weren't done, he wouldn't be here. To Kamechirou, that said plenty. However, his boyfriend was trying. "Not particularly," he finally brought himself to say.
"I'm sorry," Rai repeated, not sure what else he could say. Tracing Kame's lips carefully, he leaned down to place a soft kiss on them before pulling away slightly, "I'm sorry about this weekend," he said after a pause, resting his head lightly on the other man's pillow for a moment.
"This weekend had nothing to do with it," Kamechirou said dismissively. "I've been in my room for longer than that," he'd been all depressed since last Thursday at least. His mojo was gone. "Some of the kids stopped in to try and cheer me up, it was nice of them," he studied a spot on the wall.
His brother even offered to get Red Bull. That touched him more than Genichirou would ever know.
"That was nice of them," Rai agreed, frowning slightly, "Have you
gotten enough to eat while you were in here?" he asked, running a hand through Kame's hair. Thinking back, it had been a while since he'd seen his boyfriend for long, but he hadn't really noticed it much, except that it sometimes seemed a bit cold. Maybe he hadn't been paying enough attention.
"I'm not hungry," Kamechirou said, burrowing his face in the pillow. The hands running through his hair felt nice. He wasn't mad or anything...though perhaps he was a bit afraid. That seemed worse.
Finger combing Kame's hair gently, Rai frowned, "You should eat though," he said worriedly. It wasn't like his boyfriend not to be hungry. Moving his hand down to the other man's neck, he massaged it lightly for a moment. "Do you want me to get you something?"
"No thanks," Kamechirou said. He wasn't hungry, "I don't want to eat anything." Half of him wanted to tell Rai to keep going, because his hands felt so good on his skin. The other half wanted to tell him not to bother.
Rubbing little circles on Kame's neck gently as he frowned, Rai hoped what he was doing was helping at least a little, because he wasn't sure what else to do. "If you're sure," he said, a hint of worry in his voice. He wasn't used to Kame being like this, since the other man always seemed so hyper, "Is there something else you'd like?"
"Not that I know of," he sighed. "Maybe just ignore it and it will go away," that seemed to be the going method. Who knows, it might even work should Kamechirou's mood go back to the way it was.
God he wanted to be happy again. Where the hell was his mojo, dammit?
"Maybe if you ate you'd feel better?" Rai suggested, going back to running his hand through Kame's hair.
"No," Kamechirou grumbled. "I think I'd throw up if I ate anything," the thought of food disgusted him. He didn't feel nauseous though.
"Something to drink then?" Rai asked. He leaned forward to touch their foreheads together gently, checking to see if Kame was sick.
"No," he said. Perking up a little, he added, "Genichirou is bringing me Red Bull." He was flopped uselessly on the bed; he did not want to so much as move.
Rai nodded, thinking for a moment before leaning forward and pulling Kame into an awkward hug. He wasn't sure why he was hugging him, but it had felt like something he should do. "Maybe some fresh air would help?" he asked after pulling away.
Kamechirou was surprised at the hug, but a ghost of a smile appeared on his face. He patted Rai's back and turned around to cuddle with his pillow again when he pulled away. "No," he said stubbornly, burying his face in it.
"What about a shower?" Rai asked, watching Kame cuddle with his pillow.
"MMmnnn, no," he grumbled, muffled by the pillow. He didn't want to get up.
"A bath?" Rai asked, running out of suggestions. Leaning forward, he hugged Kame from behind, wondering why he felt the need to do so. Perhaps it was because he hadn't had much physical contact with his boyfriend in nearly a week. Or spoken with him much for that matter, but he doubted Kame was in a very talkative mood.
"They have those here?" he asked. Well, that was a way to compromise cleaning up with not wanting to stand. "Well, the hot springs probably would," Rai's weight sat warm and pleasant on his back. He wondered if Rai was only doing that because he seemed depressed. Kamechirou did not want to have to be unhappy to get his boyfriend's attention. He wasn't like that.
"They do," Rai answered, moving so he could lie comfortably curled up against Kame's back, "And the hot springs are nice at this time," he told the other man, taking one hand from around his boyfriend to cover a small yawn.
"Not sure I want to move," actually, Kamechirou was fairly sure he didn't want to move. "Maybe hot springs later, and just lay here now. You can sleep...I'll do whatever."
"Mmm," Rai answered, his eyes already drifting shut. he'd forgotten his lack of sleep until he'd actually lain down on a bed. Kame was warm, and his bed was comfortable... "Wake me up when you want to go to the hot springs," he mumbled quietly before letting himself drift off to sleep, a weekend of going without having caught up to him.
