As Kaidoh and Inui were doing their daily training they came upon a tree where, low and behold, Kaidoh's squirrel friend was at the base. Not seeming to move. He looked pretty lifeless. "Inui-senpai, look!" Kaidoh pointed to the squirrel while gently tugging Inui's sleeve.

Inui was brought out of his thoughts when he heard Kaidoh call him and felt the tug on his sleeve. "What is it Kaidoh?" He asked as he started to look towards the direction his kohai was pointing.

"Look, it's that evil squirrel... he looks strange..." Kaidoh then bent down to examine the squirrel further and suddenly grew pale. "Senpai...

Inui noticed all the color practically drain from Kaidoh's face. He kneeled down next to Kaidoh and looked at the squirrel. Why wasn't it moving?

"Senpai... He's not..." Kaidoh paused to gulp, "Dead... is he?" Kaidoh may not have liked the squirrel much but he didn't want it to die! He suddenly felt like it was all his fault and just wanted the squirrel to move when suddenly Kaidoh could feel small movements in its chest. "Ah! He's breathing!" Kaidoh said thankfully, the color starting to return to his face.

Inui almost gave a sigh of relief when they realized the squirrel was alive. He took a closer look at it. "I think it's sick. But we really shouldn't touch it. I could be dangerous for us." He explained.

At that Kaidoh almost dropped the squirrel. "But... we have to help him..." Kaidoh pleaded with the biggest eyes he could, unintentionally, manage.

Inui stared at Kaidoh. "Kaidoh we don't even have anything really that would help it. It would need food and lots of care. Plus I wouldn't want you to get bitten by it." he continued explain. It wasn't that he didn't want to help the small creature, it would just be a lot of responsibility.

"I can take care of him! I won't let him bite me! Please, can I keep him?" Kaidoh asked acting like a 5-year-old. Kaidoh didn't really care about any of the risks. At this point he just wanted to make sure the squirrel lived. Besides, he's such a nice shade of black...

Inui sighed. There was no way that Kaidoh was going to take 'no' for an answer. "Okay you can keep him, but he can't be seen by anyone else...I don't think pets are allowed here." Inui said. "Also, I guess I could help you."

Kaidoh smiled a very small smile. "Thank you Inui-senpai, I'll take good care of him!" Kaidoh paused to look at the squirrel. "I'm very grateful for your help." Kaidoh bowed, as best he could while still holding the squirrel. Then Kaidoh removed his bandana and made a cradle of sorts for the squirrel. "I think we should name it..." Kaidoh said softly.

Inui looked down at the squirrel. Naming it meant wanting to keep it after it got better. "It's your decision Kaidoh."

"Hmmm... Maybe I can wait and name him later..." Kaidoh decided after thinking for a while. "I think we should just get her to my room now..."

Inui nodded."Let's get going then. Be careful not to move it around too much while you're carrying it."He said.

"H-hai" Kaidoh nodded and gently held the bandana-wrapped squirrel to his chest, then started for his room.

Inui followed closely behind Kaidoh. Another thing he hadn't thought of was where they were going to get food for the tiny animal. Just what did squirrels eat anyway?

"Senpai... How are we going to feed it?" Kaidoh thought out loud while walking.

Inui stopped walking for a second. He had just been thinking that. "Um..well...do we even have food for it?"

Kaidoh stopped when he heard Inui's footsteps stop. "Uh... We could feed him nuts and berries..." Kaidoh suggested.

Inui nodded at this. "That would work well." He started walking once again.

"Do you think we should get some before we go to my room?" Kaidoh asked, looking down at the squirrel.

Inui thought about the question for a moment. It didn't really matter to him when they got the food. "What would you like to do?"

'He's really no help sometimes...' Kaidoh thought. "I think I should get some now so I don't have to go later..." Then Kaidoh placed the squirrel by a tree trunk gently and started to forage.

Inui helped Kaidoh forage for nuts and berries.

After a bit of time passed and he had a substantial amount to food Kaidoh decided to stop. "Okay, this is enough."

Inui look finished up what he was gathering and looked at Kaidoh. "Let's get that squirrel to your room now."

Kaidoh nodded and shoved the food into his pockets, for lack of a better place to put it. "I'm gonna need a cage too..."

"Well think about that later." Inui said. "For now let's get him to your room."

"H-hai," Kaidoh then started walking again.

Inui followed behind Kaidoh once again.

After walking for a while and going up many stairs they finally got to Kaidoh's room. "Where can I put him?" He asked himself.

Inui thought for a moment,. "I'll be right back Kaidoh." He says. He quickly left the room. He returned with a small box. You can put him in here.”

"Thank you, senpai." Kaidoh said as he put the squirrel in the box and put a few berries next to him.

Inui watched as Kaidoh put the squirrel into the small box along with some food. "What are you going to name it?" he asked.

"I can't really think of any good names..." Kaidoh thought for a while. "Maybe... Araki?" He suggested.

Inui nodded. It was a nice name for the squirrel. "I like it." he responded. "I wonder what happened to it to make it sick." He thought aloud.

"I don't know... I just hope he gets better..." Kaidoh said wistfully.

"Hopefully it'll get better soon. " He said, looking at the box. "We'll also have find something better than this for him to stay in. we wouldn't want him wandering around the dorms."

Kaidoh paled a little at that thought. 'He could get hurt... I could get caught... Inui-senpai might get in trouble too...' he thought. "That would be very bad."

"Yes it would."Inui said. " We'll have to find something else soon."

"How do we do that?" Kaidoh inquired.

Inui thought for a moment." I don't know. Even if it's not a cage I'm sure we can find something that it can't get out of as easy as it can a box." He took a seat on Kaidoh's bed.

Kaidoh took a seat next to Inui but not too close to him. "Thank you for helping me today, senpai... Without you... Araki might have died..."

Inui shook his head. "No need to thank me Kaidoh. I'm glad to help. I'm sure you would have easily been able to do it without my help."

"I probably would have done something wrong..." Kaidoh said and leaned back on the backboard of his bed.

"I barely did anything. If I remember correctly, it was you who chose the food and carried him back here. All I did was get the box." Inui explained.

"Well still, thank you." Kaidoh blushed at the fact that he was maybe over reacting a bit.

"You're welcome." Inui said giving a small smile.

Kaidoh couldn't help but smile back, although discreetly.
