"OH I GIVE UP!!" Horio Satoshi groaned, throwing the embroidery straight across the nearly empty cafeteria. His fingers hurt after multiple small puncture wounds and his eyesight was hazed. Still, who even knew how, he managed to throw the embroidery straight into the back of someone's head. "Oh! Oh, god, I'm sorry, I'm so sorry!!"

Tachibana sighed heavily as the soft, prickly thing fell onto his reflexively lifted waiting hands. An... embroidery? Not very professional one either. He looked up and saw a younger boy he didn't recognize. He took a deep breath and then walked all the way to the kid and dropped the work on the table next to him. "Here, you can have it back." He wasn't particularly angry. He didn't know the kid, so he couldn't have made him angry enough to purposely throw him with something which couldn't kill him even a little.

"Oh!" Horio got to his feet, eyes wide. "You're Tachibana Kippei! The lion from Kyuushuu! Fudomine's rebel captain! You're dating Fuji-senpai, aren't you?" No, Horio, they aren't dating. Idiot.

Tachibana's eyes widened slightly at the loud introduction. He hoped An wasn't somewhere around the corner now, ready to get wing under her ridiculous match-making plans. He shook his head. "I am not dating Fuji", he corrected. Nothing in his expression gave any hint towards him having any will to date Fuji either. Though he did consider wanting to date the tensai. No, he was pretty sure if he would date someone he'd rather date Fuji than anyone else. It was just the tiny notion that Tachibana had never really thought about dating before. He was a man and had manly desires, just... before this they hadn't been anything specific. just what everyone else was having. "Who are you?"

The scrawny looking kid pulled a hand through his hair, and then bowed politely. "Horio Satoshi, fifteen years old, soon to be a first year student in High School! I was captain for Seigaku's tennis team before I came here." He could just as well have added a 'sir' after his introduction.

"I see." Tachibana looked at the kid again and refrained from shrugging. The kid - Horio - had introduced himself as an ex-captain, so shrugging now would be impolite. He nodded instead. "Nice to meet you. How far did Seigaku get this year?" His interests mostly ran circles around tennis.

"Pretty far. Not all the way." No, the needed Samurai Junior for that. Not that Horio was bitter or anything. Of course he wasn't. Really. "But we did pretty well, regardless."

"It's good to hear that", the lion man smiled reservedly. He hadn't thought about the world outside the camp in a long time, unless you count when he and An visited their parents. an was the one who was still full of connections to all her old friends, not Kippei. Kippei didn't have that many old friends. "Congratulations."

Horio rubbed the back of his head sheepishly and grinned. "Thanks! So, what are you doing? Wanna hang out? Play tennis?"

"Actually", Tachibana declined politely with a hand gesture. "I was about to go to my room and read some. I'm falling behind in my studies. I will have to take you up on that some other time." He wasn't in the mood for sociality, unfortunately. He hardly ever was.

"Oh! Oh, I see how it is!" He frowned. "It's just because I'm not Echizen, is it? If it were Echizen, you probably would have agreed! No, you probably would have suggested it yourself, right?"

"Excuse me?" Tachibana lifted an eyebrow. Either this kid had a serious complex about people over-looking him for Echizen, or he was just a disrespectful kid. Tachibana was his senpai after all. Kippei wasn't about to get angry for it, he merely leveled a steady look to the boy. A look which asked Horio very heavily Who do you think you're talking to?

And he shied away from that look, blanching ever so slightly. "I... Uh... I mean... I..." Oh god, now he was making himself look like a complete idiot, wasn't he? Can't you do anything right?!

When his look took effect, Tachibana let it melt into his normal look, even gifted the kid with a warmer smile than before. "I wasn't lying about catching up on my homework", he stated blandly. When he passed Horio on his way through the cafeteria he ruffled the kid's hair with his hand. "I'll get back to you about the game, kid."

"Really... Really, you will?!" Horio practically sparkled.

Now, this was how you trained younger kids to look up to you, Kippei supposed and lifted his hand to a bye as he walked off. "I don't make empty promises either." He supposed he could've stayed and talked for a bit longer but he wasn't good in keeping conversations going. Not if the other person wasn't Senri. Maybe, he thought as he reached the stairs, Senri had spoiled him for life. He would forever be unable to have a normal conversations with other people, because Senri didn't shut up about cosmoses and the other crazy stuff he always went on about.
