Who: Oishi and Eiji
What: An attempt at reconciliation turns into a fight, and Oishi goes too far.
Where: Oishi and Shiraishi's room
When: Afternoon, April 1st

The wood of Oishi's door was dark.  It contrasted with the white walls of the hallway brilliantly - as did the name plate beside the door way.  There was a small indent near the area where the door met it's henge's, though the wood had not split when whatever had hit it had done so.  Also, the hallway seemed to be something of a student highway, one or two people rushing past every minute or so.

All this Eiji hadn't noticed before today.  Of course, he had probably never taken the hours time he had taken this evening to stand in front of the door, leaving it untouched.

Slowly he reached out his hand as if to knock, only to pull it away again.  What was he going to say?  He missed him? Even if Oishi didn't want to be his boyfriend he still wanted to be friends?  Frowning he nibbled a bit more on his already reddened lip before tightening the scarf around his neck.  He wouldn't bring up the subject of Gakuto.... that was the safest thing.

Gathering his courage he at last brought his knuckles to the door, giving it a timid knock.

"Yes?" Oishi looked up from where he had been looking at his fish. He now had no doubt about it; the Minami fish was indeed going to have babies rather soon. He just hoped at least some of them would escape the older fish... maybe he should set up a separate aquarium just for the babies. "Come in~"

'You can do this.'  Taking a deep breath the red head opened the door, very glad that Oishi was turned away from him.  For a moment there was a flood of relief.  He hadn't realized just how much he had missed the other boy - but setting eyes on him magnified the feeling enormously.  The feeling quickly ebbed away however, to be replaced with a growing dread.  Opening his mouth he attempted to speak, but no sound emerged.

Oishi turned to see who was coming in, his eyes widening as he saw the red-head. "E-Eiji?" he stammered.

For a brief moment sapphire met emerald before Eiji had to look away.  "O...oishi... " he managed.  Now, what had he decided on saying?  Now that they were face to face his speech had completely slipped his mind.

"Ah... why are you here?" Not the most eloquent response, certainly, but then it was a somewhat confusing situation.

What.... kinda of question was that?  The red head narrowed his eyes in attempts to hide the stabbing pain he had felt at those words.  "Moron.  Why do you think?"  Hands balling into fists he closed his eyes, trying to keep his voice level.  "But if you don't want to see me-nyo, I can leave."

"...I rather thought you were the one who didn't want to see me." Oishi turned his eyes back to the fishes. It was easier than looking at Eiji... looking at him and being reminded of what he couldn't have.

"Where did you come up with that?" he growled, starting to get frustrated again.  He didn't want to fight more.  He really didn't.  "You're the one who basically told me you couldn't stand me."

"I never said such a thing, Eiji," Oishi sighed. "I have no idea where you got that picture from..."

Jū  The red head started to count backwards from ten in his mind.  Yelling would only make it worse, he was sure.  Kyū.  Hachi.  Nana.  "Really?  Could've sworn you said that when you yelled at me for kissing you."  Roku.  Go.  Yon.

"...I never did that, either." Oishi rubbed his temples. Honestly, where had Eiji gotten that from? Sure, he didn't remember every word he had said, but he knew for a fact he could never do something like that to Eiji.

"So I'm a liar now?" he asked, voice harsh.  What number had he been on?  Should he start over?  Biting down on his lip he pressed the palms of his hands over his eyes.  "Look, I didn't come here to fight."

"I'd have been fooled," Oishi murmured. "Look, Eiji... I don't want to do this. It hurt badly enough to watch you walk away once. There's no need for you to come picking a fight just so you can do it all over again."

He narrowed his eyes into dangerous slits.  "Excuse me?" the red head seethed.  "Who did what to who?  Don't you dare try to blame this on me-nyo."

"I'd say you're the one who's trying to blame all this on me," Oishi replied. He rarely had much of a temper, but if anyone was able to rile him up, it was Eiji. And right now, he was starting to get rather irritated.

"It was your fault!"  That was it.  Why the hell had he come here in the first place.  Surely he should have realized it was going to end up like this.  Oishi had made his point clearly enough that day on the court.  He didn't want anything further to do with the red head.  "I didn't do anything wrong.  You're the one who had to open his stupid mouth and ruin everything!"

"Oi!" Oishi stood up from where he was crouching down to look at the aquarium, glaring at Eiji. "You're the one who started it, calling me stupid!"

Eiji's normally cheerful face was contorted in rage, the frown looking uncharacteristic on his features.  "Oh yeah-nyo?  Well I call 'em like I see them.  Not my fault you're stupid."

"Pretty damn poor taste you have, then, making out with someone so stupid," Oishi spat, fists clenching.

"Momentary lapse of judgement-nyo," he snorted, though mirthlessly.  "Trust me.  It won't happen again.  Who would want to kiss you anyway."

"You'd know that, wouldn't you?" Oishi asked sharply. "Have to wonder just how easy you are, if you'll even kiss someone as disgusting as me."

He was easy now, was he?  True he had made out with Gakuto - but he had been drunk - one couldn't really hold that against him.  Besides, Oishi didn't even know about that.  "I'm easy?" he asked.  "Where the hell do you come off, you prick?"  He advanced slightly, closing in by a few steps.  "I could have anyone anyone I wanted-nyo.  And what about you?  No - I think you'll be one of those guys who's still a virgin when you're fifty."

"If you can really have anyone you want, what are you doing here giving me pain?" Oishi asked. "And if the alternative is sleeping with someone that self-centred and unable to admit what he's done, I'd rather stay a virgin!"

"You bastard!  I am not self-centered!  Stop trying to blame this on me!" he hissed, stepping over and pounding on the others chest, though not hard enough to actually hurt him.  "I, for reasons unknown to me, decided I wanted you-nyo.  God forbid.  Well, I've wised up now.  You're so not even worth my time."

"Then stop wasting it on me!" Oishi... didn't mean to. Honestly, he didn't. However, there was only so much of Eiji's bitching that he could take for something he hadn't even done. Before he even realized what was happening, he slapped Eiji.

The red head started to open his mouth in retort when the blow hit him.  Years of hard training had added to the tall, dark haired boys strength, and it seemed to Eiji that the other hadn't held back in the slightest.  He yelped in pain, spinning a little on the spot before crashing to the floor, tears springing to his eyes.  Quickly he propelled his legs to scuttle away from Oishi.  He tasted blood.  When at last his back had met the door he raised a hand to his quickly swelling lip.  When he pulled it away he could see the the dark red liquid.

It took a second for Oishi to realize just what he had done. When he did, he went pale as a sheet, stepping back. His hand trembled as he looked at Eiji. He -- he had struck Eiji again -- the one thing he'd sworn to himself he'd never do again...

"N-...never again..." the red head managed through a steady stream of tears.  "I never.... want to see you again."  He could feel some of the blood from his mouth leak a bit through his fingers as he moved upward, using the door for support.  Once standing he fumbled for the knob, his eyes filled with horror as they remained locked on Oishi's.  "Stay the hell away from me-n...nyo..."

"...Good." Oishi swallowed. "Just... stay away from me..." Because he could never forgive himself for this.

Trembling from head to foot Eiji's hand caught the knob, but he didn't turn it - not yet.  He watched Oishi for a moment.  One of his best friends... his doubles partner.... his boyfriend... How had this happened?  He loved him... of course he still loved him.  But... there was just no way he could forgive this.  Holding back a sob he forced himself to exit the room, closing the door behind him.  A moment later and he was running back to his dorm room.  A minute and he had slid down it's wall to sob on the floor.  Why... had this happened?!
