Who: Kawamura Takashi and Yagyuu Hiroshi
What: BLIND DATE (ie roomie bonding <3)
When: The 14th
Where: Under a tree, and then their room
Rating: ... G?
Niou had promised him that he worked out everything, so Taka had helped put the picnic baskets around the campus, and did half the name cards. Obviously, he didn't do his own, so after opening his invitation card, he found he was going under the large oak tree toward the entrance of camp. He knew everyone who had signed up….but he had no idea who he had been signed up with, and he had butterflies with nervousness. Finding the basket, he stopped before he could get close enough to read the cards-that would be cheating.
Yagyuu was still slightly confused as to why he had agreed to sign up and go along with this ridiculous thing in the first place, but he dressed nicely... didn't bother bringing some sort of present for his 'date' as he probably should have though. He made his way towards the designated place, going over in his mind who had signed up. Hm.
He frowned as he spotted Taka underneath the tree... was he there to make sure that everything was going okay or that people even showed up, perhaps? Yagyuu checked his watch - he was right on time, as usual. "Well this is unexpected. Hello."
When he heard footsteps, he turned…and his stomach dropped. Oh god…. "Yagyuu-kun…" No. Niou wouldn't do that to them. Right? He walked three steps toward the basket. And…there were both their names. "Ah…I…yeah…" He swore silently and took in a shaky breath. He was going to kill Niou.
He was confused. Why was Taka acting... like that? Yagyuu followed him to the basket, looking at the card, his frown reappearing. "Ah." That explained it perfectly. He cleared his throat and looked at the basket of food, then up at the sky. Hn. "This is both unexpected and slightly awkward." He laughed to himself, as though that would help clear the tension in the air. "I'm going to assume you had absolutely nothing to do with this." After all, why would Taka pair himself up with... his roommate?
Taka chuckled himself, awkwardly, and rubbed the back of his neck in embarrassment. Niou knew that he was a bit…hesitant about Yagyuu-kun! "Yeah…I'll agree to that." He said, before shaking his head. "Believe me! When I said I'd make sure you were paired up with someone you didn't hate, I didn't think to set you up with me! This is ALL Niou-kun." He said, sighing. "Damn him…"
"To be fair, I don't dislike you." So that part had been... correct. Well, he supposed Taka was a better person to spend the second half of the day with than someone like... Yukimura. That would have been awkward. "Though yes, I can see how Niou would have a hand in this." And yes, Yagyuu was going to have to have a long talk with his best friend later. Utterly ridiculous. "I think... it would be better to think of this as just a lunch between roommates."
The brunette couldn't help but laugh honestly at Yagyuu-kun's words. "I appreciate that, Yagyuu-kun. It would be horrible to have my roommate dislike me." He continued to rub the back of his beck, before sighing. "Yeah…I hope we're the only ones he messed with, at least….and, I think that is a good idea. Why let lunch go to waste?" Taka trailed off.
"I hope so as well." Well, if Niou had messed around with the list of people for the blind date, there would be some people faced with... rather awkward lunches ahead of them. Yagyuu liked to hope that this one wasn't one of them. Besides, he was hungry, lunch was very important. "Indeed." He paused to think for a moment. "Perhaps we should move inside to eat lunch." The oak tree was just a meeting place after all, wasn't it? "To our room, perhaps? I'll make some tea." Smile smile.
It was sort of cold, so at the idea of moving inside was a good idea. With a nod, he smiled. "I think it would be good to take it inside…" Their room… "That could work. That way, we don't really have to do anything else afterwards." Because really, why would Yagyuu want to continue on this afternoon date?
Yagyuu was glad that Taka agreed to his idea. Much more comfortable than standing and eating or... sitting on a cold bench somewhere outside. "I suppose that's true... we could always just sit in the room and play cards or something if that takes your fancy." It would stop him from finding Niou and kicking him. "Shall we go then?"
"Eh…You still…want to continue this?" Taka asked surprised, warm chocolate eyes wide. He was still freaked. One wrong move, and goodbye balls. They were starting toward the dorms, and he had already picked up the basket. "Ah…."
"You promised me lunch. I intend to eat it." That had been one of the reasons he'd agreed to sign up for this ridiculous event in the first place, after all. And well... he supposed there was nothing wrong with spending time with his roommate and getting to now him. Probably a good thing, actually. Yagyuu said thankyou as Taka picked up the bakset, leading the way as they made their way to the dorms. "Hm?" Yagyuu glanced at Taka, raising his eyebrows. Was something wrong?
"I know you want lunch!" He said, shaking his head and smiling somewhat. "But, after we eat, is what I mean." Taka finished off, as they started walking up to the dorms. "Ah…nothing. Just agreeing to going…" He said, shrugging. God, this was awkward. The dorm room building was in front of them, and Taka opened the door, with his free hand, for the other to go first.
"Well it's not like I had anything else planned for today." He hadn't exactly expected to end up with his roommate of all people for the rest of Valentine's day, after all. "If you have something else to do, you're free to do that, of course." Yagyuu nodded in thanks as Taka held open the door. He walked quickly towards their room, glancing at Taka now and then, just to make sure he was still there and okay with carrying the basket.
"That's true, I guess." Taka replied with an awkward smile. While he hadn't really expected much of anything from this date, except maybe getting to know someone better, but…Yagyuu-kun? God. He could barely keep himself from pulling out his phone and texting Niou to scold him. Blinking at Yagyuu's words, he shook his head. "Of course not. I just assumed.." He trailed off with a shrug. Taka was still following, almost dreading this. He'd never eaten with Yagyuu before. He knew he was a neat freak, and what happened if he spilled someone?
Yagyuu raised an eyebrow at Taka's half finished sentence but didn't say anything, remaining silent until they reached their room. He opened the door and entered, closing it once Taka was inside. "We'll see what we feel like doing after lunch, shall we?" If the air was still as awkward as it was now, they could just go their own seperate ways and... yes. Yagyuu went straight for the hand sanitizer, feeling that nice tingly feeling on his hands as he held the bottle out to Taka.
As soon as Taka was inside, he put the picnic basket down on his desk, and automatically reached for the bottle handed to him, and used the horrible hand sanitizer to appease Yagyuu. "That sounds fine." The tall brunette replied softly. He wished he could act more naturally around Yagyuu, but…he was just so freaked by his dream and what Yagyuu had done to Sanada. With a smile, he started to open the picnic basket. "Would you like to eat on the floor…or…on one of the beds?"
"I think sitting on the floor will be good." Yagyuu said, checking the floor for a moment to see that yes, it was clean before sitting down. Besides, eating on the beds was a bit... gross. Crumbs and all that, he would have to change the sheets before he slept.Yagyuu peered into the opened picnic basket curiously - ah, there were drinks in here too - and looked at Taka. "Are you sure this was packed for two people? It seems like a lot of food." Perhaps they were just all catering for the big eaters like Marui. Always possible.
Taka had sort of assumed the ground would be a good place, and had picked up the basket and put it on the ground, before sitting cross legged on the ground, leaning his back against his bed. "Of course it was! I packed and made it myself, after all…" He replied, with an embarrassed grin. "I tend to think of one person's serving equivalent to Momo-chan's eating ability!"
Yagyuu looked at Taka in surprise, raising his eyebrows before looking back down at the picnic basket. "Quite impressive. You must have made a lot of food." How many pairs were there on this blind date event? "It is probably the safest thing to do, since you wouldn't have known which basket would end up with the larger appetites." Yagyuu pulled out a roll of sushi, checked the insides before starting to eat. "This is very nice!" He said after the first mouthful.
Before he could stop himself, he chuckled at yagyuu's surprised face, and grinned. "Thanks, and I did. Lots of food. We had ten baskets…twenty people signed up so~" Taka said, with a nod of his head. "Yeah, and I thought it would just be easier to make more than worry if people have eaten enough." He was slow to get the food out, and started with a bottle of tea and one container of the sautéed vegetables.
He didn't want to think exactly how much food that was, nor how long it had taken Taka to make all of it. Yagyuu looked at Taka thoughtfully, chewing on another piece of sushi. "You're a very nice person." he said eventually, smiling and getting out a bottle of water. Well, he could have had a much worse person to eat lunch with today, that was for sure.
Taka was chewing a vegetable, when Yagyuu's words made him look over at the other with somewhat wide eyes. His cheeks flushed at the compliment. "Ah…Thank you, Yagyuu-kun. I think…you are too, if you don't….well…" He stopped, and sunk a bit. Why the hell had he kept talking?
If he didn't... what? Yagyuu hid his confusion by eating some more, puzzling over what he'd done to not come across as nice to his roommate. He hadn't done anything... bad, had he? Okay, woken up sometimes on the wrong side of the bed, insisted on the use of hand sanitizer but... "Have I accidentally done something to insult you?" he asked carefully, frowning slightly.
Taka busied himself with pulling out a roll of sushi and shoved a whole piece in his mouth to try and figure his way out of this one. But, after swallowing, and taking a sip of his tea, he couldn't figure out anything else so… "Well…" Taka started, sighing as he rubbed the back of his neck. "I…heard that…you've…used your laser on someone's…privates."
Yagyuu was patient. He reckoned that Taka would tell him eventually, and amused himself during the silence with poking through the picnic basket some more. He nearly dropped his bottle of water in surprise at what Taka said, before he smothered a laugh behind his hand. Yagyuu straightened his expression, cleared his throat and pushed up his glasses. "... Sanada was... is, a very special case." Was that it? He laughed again. "I don't think anyone else has to worry about me doing that to them!"
He was being laughed at. Flushing bright red, he ducked his head and played with his chopsticks. God, why was he such an embarrassing mess? He would have liked to blame it all on Niou-kun throwing him off by setting him up with his roommate, but he knew that wasn't the case. Yagyuu's words made him pause for a moment though, before bravely looking over at the still laughing teen. "Eh…Really? I mean…I never heard what he did but….I didn't want to do it on accident.
He did sort of want to know how Taka had found out about the entire incident in the first place. Though, the thought of him suddenly lasering someone in the balls whenever he was angry... Yagyuu could see how that could be quite intimidating. He felt sort of sorry for Taka, actually. "I don't think you'll be getting into a romantic relationship with Niou and making him unhappy, anytime soon." Yagyuu patted Taka on the arm, smiling. "And definitely not on accident."
"Oh…." Taka sat there, blinking, stupidly, for a moment, before he sighed. It was sort of like a big weight had been lifted off his shoulders. "Well…just…promise me you won't, okay? You can punch me, or something but…" He chuckled embarrassedly. "Jin told me about it while we were in Okinawa, and I had a dream that night of you….you know. I've…sort of been on edge since. When I found out we were roommates…I kinda…. bought a cup, just in case "
"I promise I won't laser you in the groin." Yagyuu said, fighting the urge to laugh again. So paranoid! As Taka continued talking, Yagyuu could see how yes, Taka would be... on edge. That would also explain why their relationship as roommates had always been rather awkward and polite. Good to know that there was a reason behind it, and it wasn't because he was a... dick or something. He leaned closer to catch the last of Taka's sentence. "Did you wear it for the first few days we were roommates as well?" Yagyuu was genuinely amused by this piece of information. "Well I'm sorry that you were... worried that I would do that to you."
He was a tomato. Seriously. And trying to get the carpet to swallow him whole. "…I still do, during tennis practice." He admitted. Could he just die right here and now, please?
Well Taka seemed to be going very red in the face. "I'm only violent towards certain people." he said... in a hopefully reassuring way, patting Taka on the arm again. "You have nothing to worry about." Though considering there were... violent people at the camp, it was probably safer to keep the cup just in case.
Taka hesitantly looked over at Yagyuu and cracked a smile. "Ah…I'm very sorry to have thought that…I guess the…nightmare was just so vivid…And, Jin couldn't tell me why you'd done that…" He laughed at himself, rubbing his redneck some.
"It must have been some nightmare." Yagyuu said with a smile. He would admit that it was amusing though, thinking about Taka being edgey around him because of that. "And not many people knew why I did that." Actually... had he even told Niou? "Hopefully you can be less worried now."
"Yeah…it felt…very real." He admitted, with a pang remembering the dream. "Oh…Well, I won't press, as long as you don't do it to me…." He said, smiling. "I…think I will be." Taka picked up his chopsticks and dug into his vegetables.
Yagyuu considered Taka for a few moments with a small frown before putting down his food and holding out a hand to Taka. "I suppose since we've gotten that... awkwardness behind us, we should start afresh." Always a good thing. Perhaps this blind date thing wasn't as ridiculous as it had originally seemed. "Let us be good roommates from now on, Kawamura-kun."
Taka looked at the hand, and smiled brightly as he reached out to shake Yagyuu's hand. "Lets." He agreed, nodding his head. He felt much better now, and not as nervous around his roommate. "Thank you, Yagyuu-kun."
