Fuji Syuusuke usually didn't think he was easily bored, but the text laid out before him was written in an extremely monotone way, the writer seemed to have no inspiration what so ever as he wrote it, and the facts presented to him were just plain boring. Sighing, the tensai pushed the book away from him, and glanced over at the other boy in the room. He was in Yukimura Seiichi's room, as they had decided on doing their homework together, being in the same class and all, and after almost an hour and a half trying to wrap his head around this book, Fuji was more than ready to call it a day. "How's it going?"
"The text is rather...dry," Yukimura responded to Fuji's question, looking up from the work he was doing, "the writer does nothing to make his subject more interesting. I wonder why Sakamoto chose this book for us to study? I'm sure there are plenty of more interesting texts on the same subject."
The words were out before Fuji could stop himself: "Maybe he just want us to frown our cute little faces in confusion?"
"I'm not sure what you mean," Yukimura said, smiling slightly, "Why does everyone seem to think that the director is a perverted and rude old man? He seemed perfectly nice to me when I first met him."
"Well..." Fuji shrugged, not really comfortable with the subject - and he could have kicked himself for starting to speak about it - and then he smiled half heartedly. "I've had the pleasure to meet him face to face... And he seemed... Well... Suspicious enough."
"Ah. I will not argue, he seemed a bit questionable, but I don't believe in first impressions." Yukimura said, starting on the writing part of the assignment, having finished reading the pages they were assigned with some difficulty.
"I agree." Fuji tried to concentrate on the schoolwork, but he felt that something was lacking. Maybe he should take a small break, as he would probably be able to focus more on the work afterwards. "I really tried to give him the benefit of a doubt, but... Can't say it isn't flattering though~"
"Yes, it is quite flattering..." Yukimura said, "Perhaps it's time for a short break? The answers really aren't making themselves apparent at the moment."
Closing his textbook on the page he'd been writing on, Yukimura rolled over on his bed so that he was lying on his back.
"Sounds like a good idea to me." Fuji stood up and stretched, pale, taut belly showing as the shirt rode up. Now all he had to do was to find something to talk about... "How do you like camp this far?"
"Not bad, I suppose. I haven't gotten a chance to see the pool, but the shrine is quite nice. I do my homework there quite often." Yukimura answered getting up and stretching as well.
"The shrine?" Fuji blinked, then a smirk made its way to his lips. "Met the ghost then?"
"No," Yukimura responded calmly, "There doesn't seem to be a ghost, although I've been getting the strange feeling of being watched."
Sitting on the bed, he took a plant that had been sitting on the window and proceeded to prune it.
"I did find an interesting note and a pair of shoes in and around one of the trees."
"You got that feeling too?" Watching Yukimura's able hands dance over the flower, Fuji leaned against the window and the smirk slowly grew into a softer kind of smile.
"Yes," Yukimura answered simply, holding the plant carefully by the main stem, he cut one of the longer stemmed flowers off, "Would you like to have this?" He asked Fuji, offering him the flower.
Having finished that plant, he picked another one off his windowsill, this time a miniature pine tree, and began pruning off the new buds and branches.
"Have it?" Fuji blinked, pushing himself away from the window to close the distance between him and the former captain. "You're giving it to me?"
"Of course," Yukimura said, "If I didn't, it would just end up in the dirt anyway. I don't really have anything to do with them now, you see."
Carefully taking out the honey jar he'd brought for this purpose, Yukimura applied a honey and water mixture to the bonsai where its new branches had been cut off.
"Nee, Fuji-kun, what would you say to building a greenhouse at camp?"
Taking the small pot into his hands, Fuji gave the plant an affectionate look before he put it away on Yukimura's nightstand, then moved over to the desk chair to take a seat, one leg crossing the other and hands resting in his lap.
"I say that would be a lovely idea." He quirked an eyebrow and shrugged. "It's not like we're doing a lot of tennis here anyway, right?"
"Of course. And I'd love to have a larger place to garden. My room is a bit small for these things." Yukimura commented, looking for a place to put the bonsai, on his overcrowded windowsill. Finally finding a spot, between a miniature willow and a small lavender plant, Yukimura put down the bonsai and looked over at Fuji.
"Since there doesn't seem to be much tennis, perhaps we could play a game sometime?"
"I'd love to." Fuji opened his eyes, and tilted his head slightly to the side as he studied the other boy. "I've always wanted to play you, you know."
"Really? I'm flattered," Yukimura said, picking up the lavender to harvest some of the flowers to dry and make things out of. Picking up his miniature garden shears, he began his task, happy with the work he'd gotten done so far.
"You are the 'Son of God', aren't you?" Fuji smirked. "I'd be crazy if I didn't want to play against you."
"I believe that was the nickname given to me," Yukimura said, picking up a small bunch of flowers that had fallen on the floor, "I don't think everyone is of the same opinion."
"I'd like to see for myself." Fuji smiled, then thought of something. "Wait, hold that pose, please?"
Pausing where he was, he asked, "Why am I posing?"
Fuji quickly picked up the camera he had hanging around his neck in a pink strap, and grinned. "It's perfect~ Just hold the flowers like that..."
Nodding, Yukimura heard, rather than saw the snap of a camera, and stood up, putting the flowers in the pile he'd been making. Deciding the lavender had been cut enough, he looked around his room at the various baskets of candy and potted plants that filled the room. Seeing a tomato plant that seemed to need more sunlight that it was getting, he placed it's pot where the lavender had been and put the lavender in it's new place.
And that was just perfect. Fuji clicked a few times, catching the moment with the sparse sunlight shining in on the blue haired boy just right, and then he got to his feet, pressing a few buttons, opening up his picture folder in the camera and handed it over to Yukimura. "Here, if you want to look~"
Taking the picture, Yukimura admired Fuji's work for a moment, before handing it back.
"Very nice, Fuji-kun."
"Thank you," the shorter boy beamed, before happily tucking the camera away. "I just love taking pictures, you know?"
"Of course. Something like how I like gardening?" Yukimura, half-asked, half-questioned, turning back to his homework. "We should continue with our homework... Hopefully we'll get it done soon."
"Yes, let's do that." Fuji smiled, walking over to the discarded books on the floor and flopped down by them. Time to get back to work.
