Comment: This is after a series of comments between Fuji and Taka, where Fuji asks how Taka received the cut on his cheek, and Taka tells Fuji that Fuji's ex did it. Afterwards, Fuji didn't respond for days, so Taka got worried. ^^;

Taka was nervous. He hadn't really talked much to Tachibana-kun before and...this was a sensitive issue. But, he was too worried over his friend to let it stop him, and after shouldering his messenger bag; he took a deep breath and walked over to the other's desk. "Ah...Tachibana-kun...? May I talk to you for a minute...?" He asked softly.

Tachibana closed his books with a sigh. Another round of homework to be done today. Where Tachibana was good in hands-on subjects like tennis and sports and woodwork and stuff, he struggled with academics. Not that he would ever ask for help. A man took care of his own problems. He was putting the books away to bag when Kawamura appeared in front of him out of the blue. Tachibana's eyebrow rose confusedly. They had never really talked to each other before. What could make Kawamura approach him? "I have a moment. What is this about?"

"Ah, it's a private matter...concerning Fujiko-chan." He murmured lowly, as he shifted from foot to foot. It wasn't really something he wanted to be asking help for...but he knew he needed to. Fuji hadn't talked to him since Tuesday, and he was a bit worried that he had upset his friend.

"Fuji?" Tachibana stood up into his full height, picking up his bag on the way. He was worried now. Had something happened to Fuji he didn't know about? "I'll listen."

"Yes..." He replied, and moved to give the other some more room. "Thank you...shall we talk in the courtyard...? We should have some privacy there..."

"Lead the way", Tachibana gestured towards the door with a hint of a good-natured smile on his face. It had to be a serious matter if it could not be discussed about in class, but the words he'd said reminded him of something he couldn’t quite place his finger on. Something from his past.

With a nod, Taka started to lead them out of the classroom and down the corridor, before they turned to exit the building. They kept walking until they were at a patch of grass with a couple old, lovely trees, and he finally stopped. This conversation might be better if they were sitting, so he slid down the tree trunk to sit on the grass. He gave a big sigh, as if to say, here we go.

Instead of sitting down Tachibana remained standing. He looked around idly, before setting his eyes on the ex-Seigaku powerhouse. "Well?"

Taka looked up at the other, and a frown slid into place. "Fujiko-chan...I think he's upset with me. A couple days ago, he stopped talking to me, responding to my comments." He admitted.

"And?" Tachibana lifted his eyebrows. If the guy had pissed Fuji off he should take it up with Fuji and not him. What could Tachibana do about it anyway? It wasn't his business or was it? "And what has this got to do with me?"

Taka sighed at the other's words. "And, I'm not sure that it's a great idea for me to go talk to him....He may need time. And I was hoping that you might...." He paused, and heaved another heavy sigh. "I was hoping you could just...be there for him. Make dinner for him or something and see if he wanted to talk."

"Oh, that." Tachibana shrugged and chuckled. Thank goodness it hadn't been anything too serious. "That kind of thing I'd do anyway. But if you're that worried just make up with him."

Auto response from doodlebug kh04: Wow. Be proud! I'm actually doing something productive

It...wasn't funny, was it? He blinked up at the other, head cocked to the side. "I think....he wants his space right now from me. I...I think he is upset about something I did...And he's still trying to be strong after the attack..."

"I see." Tachibana wondered if there was something else than friendship talking there. Kawamura had the feeling of someone who was talking about their crush, like Kamio back when he was still running after An. Then again, Tachibana wasn't professional in recognizing the signs - his sister was - so he wasn't jumping into conclusions. And even if Kawamura did have a crush on Fuji, it wasn't his business. Talking about the attack made Tachibana lose his good mood. Of course it was something that shouldn't be forgotten, but Tachibana rather didn't talk about it, or think about it. Damn. "I still wonder. Fuji doesn't seem like a guy who gets upset over little stuff."

“Well…I’m not sure it was something little to him.” He pointed to his cheek. “He asked me how I got the cut the other day…And, well….I’m not sure he liked the answer. The bastard….I mean, Fuji’s ex, that attacked him….made that cut.” He admitted. “So…he hasn’t said a word to me since I told him that…”

"Oh..." Tachibana looked at the cut for the first time. He hadn't even thought about it before. Guys often had scratches, it was no one's business to ask about little ones. It wouldn't have mattered now either if it hadn't been that guy who'd made it. Tachibana hadn't known, that it had been Kawamura who'd gone after that worthless bastard. Seemed like he'd got to fight the guy too. While Tachibana had listened to Senri and An and stayed in the camp doing nothing. "You're a good guy, Kawamura. And I don't think Fuji's upset with you. Must be that he's thinking about what happened again."

“But…I might be reminding him and his mind might be drifting back….” He sighed, and pulled his knees up so he could rest his elbows on them and cradle his head, feeling so lost. “I just want him to know that people are there for him….even if he doesn’t want me to be.”

"His friends are with him." Tachibana said sounding very wise, but his hands clenched into fists. No matter what Fuji said, he had backed down from his word. He wasn't a real man, and the friendship of a worthless man was as worthless as the man himself. He really was the worst. "But n all honesty, you should talk to him. You kicked that guy's ass, he must feel safe around you."

“ Of course I am, and I want to be there for him, but…if it’s painful…than I’m doing more harm than good.” He replied, before blushing from embarrassment. “I…I didn’t mean to kick the guys butt. I shouldn’t have….it was not much better than them hurting Dan.” He admitted.

"Don't see why you should feel guilty about it", Tachibana said. He was unsympathetic towards the bastards. If one could do shit like they'd done, they were in for a punishment sooner or later. "They had it coming." He checked his watch and looked towards the school. "I can't talk about Fuji but I don't see why seeing you would hurt him. You're his friend."

Taka wouldn’t push the subject, and just shrugged. “I…” Maybe Tachibana wasn’t as good a friend as Taka thought he was to Fuji. “I’m just worried, and thought you could help.” This was frustrating him, so he stood up. “Thanks for your time…”

"No problem." Tachibana didn't think he'd helped the guy, but then again, he wasn't the best person to talk to when it came to feelings and such. Plus, he wasn't in the best of moods now, having learned that Kawamura had done what Tachibana had sworn he'd do. "I hope things turn out fine for you."

Taka shouldered his bag and nodded his head in goodbye before he started to walk away, feeling even more lost then before he had talked to the other. That had been a bust, apparently. He would just have to wait for Fuji to talk to him, because he knew one thing, and that was, you couldn’t press your luck with Fuji.
