Summary: Maybe that was why they locked him away; not every creature could face its nature.
As a boy, Hisoka had never been afraid of monsters, but he knew they were afraid of him. He couldn’t hide from them what he was because every creature knew its ilk but most did not dare face their nature. Like his parents, they hid it, locked it away and did not look.
But Hisoka didn’t need to hide, not in the private darkness of the cellar. Long after he felt them fall into a fitful sleep he reached out with his empathy, searching for some impression of himself, something to keep him company in the night.
His was a divine irony.
