Actually, I love reading these long posts after you've been thinking. ; )
I know what you mean about those "grey" areas. They are so difficult sometimes. But it does help me to remember that sometimes the "grey" areas become more "white/black" areas as God reveals things to us, and pretty much every time he's revealing such things to different people at different times. It was on your heart and mind at this present time, so you did the right thing in bringing it up. Now it's up to the other parties involved to respond as they will, and to allow God to reveal and work as he will.
And yes, the path is terribly narrow, but God's grace is sufficient. More than sufficient. He came, he lived and exampled, he died and rose again just so he could help us walk that path. And he walks each and every step with us, if we allow him. So keep hanging in there. ; )
