Yeah, how about I vote no on the teaching this week. So I showed a movie. Sue me! Actually, it was an excellent movie on heat and temperature by Discovery school. But I was just too fried to actually try and complete sentences and pretend I care about the standards this week. I did find a video that supported the standards so yay me on the effort. If I hadn't left this other video home, I would have played one for class today.
And since I haven't done an AP update in like forever...I am so stoked. We finished AP chem a little less than a day after spring break. We have been reviewing all the concepts since then. The awesomeness of all that? This is the first time I was able to do a solid review! I almost fainted when I gave back the 1999 scores for the AP! All of them passed. So after review they get the 2002 test and I will grade it for real. My fingers, toes and everything else is crossed. If they pass that again, I will not worry any longer. I also put together over 20 invite letters for next year. yay! Unfortunately, AP chem is not on the schedule for next year yet. BOO! But at least I finally decided to fight back, I want that class...if I am going to teach the easy classes I WANT AP.
Oh and the fun of today. Our principal "went hard" as my students would say, today! I think he must have taken an overnight class on discipline because he was not for it today. Some kids have the code to ring the bell early. For the last few weeks the bell has just been ringing whenever. They supposedly changed the code and for a while it stopped ringing. Well, kids must have discovered the code again today so it rang five minutes before first period was over (we have four periods a day). Naturally, I look at my watch and realize that it rang in error and kept teaching. But alas, Pavlov wins and some teachers let the kids go. I dismissed on time and when the proper bell rang for second period, the principal came on the intercom. He announced that since the bell rang five minutes early, all students would be held for an additional five minutes in this current class and they would be late to lunch and on time to depart lunch. Those kids were mad! They lost five minutes of their 35 minute lunch. And he held to it too, screaming at the few plebs that were let go by inattentive teachers. He sent them back to their classes and refused to let them in the lunch room. ha!!
Then theater has been trying but I finally got into the rhythm of it. I actually did stage manager stuff for the last three days. We have off tomorrow and I am doing NOTHING theater related tomorrow night. Plans on grabbing some random junk food and watching movie. I am not even trying to go to see my student's play. So I am on a major 'yay me' mode.
Oh and I begged off of a task that was becoming its own monster and consuming way more time than needed. I called and got the NJHS stuff ordered for induction. Tonight I am going to bed at midnight. yay!!!
enjoy your weekend everyone!
