KAMIJO's POV

"Just like that... step here... don't worry you won't fall, I will support you... amazing."

It's been one month since they released Teru from hospital. I was visiting him everyday, trying to make him smile, laugh.... I wanted him to remember. Or at least to make him believe into me again. Maybe it was selfish but I couldn't help. I wanted to help him with all my strength. One day, I found Teru sitting on the bed, dressed. He greeted me shyly and told me, he is leaving. I was shocked but even more when I found out that he is leaving WITH me.  Nurses and doctors told me everything - how to take care of him, how to exercise with him, which herbals and pills to give him... And finally, we both said good-bye to that cold place.
I took him to his new home, my house and finally, he could start again... No. WE could start again.

"You are doing great." I smiled at Teru and lifted him, placing him to bed gently and tugging him to blanket. Teru smiled softly.
"Really?"
I nodded and petted him. "I'm sure  you will walk again in no time." I assured him.
Silver head's eyes filled with slight happiness. "Thank you, Kamijo-sama..."
"How many time have I told you to not call me formally?" I sighed and smiled. "Just Kamijo or Yuuji. Mijo would work too."
Teru sighed and nodded. He looked away and saddened a bit. "I just feel like I'm taking away whole your life... That my existence is eating yours..." he mumbled. "You are doing all of these and I don't even know you... I-..."
"Teru...." I looked at him. "I'm happy that I can help you. That I can take care of you and see all that progress you are making." I smiled at him. "When you were younger, I said you that I won't do anything if I don't want to. You probably don't remember it but I do. And I meant it back then. So no worries, okay? No long faces..." I said with calm voice and poked him to cheek. Younger man nodded and gave me weak smile.
"Okay."
I stood up and went to doors. I wanted to open them but I stumbled, my head spinning. Silent giggle resonated in my head.

'My poor, nice Yuuji-kun. Putting effort to such pathetic thing. He won't remember you anyway and when you let him... He will just fly away like a bird from its nest... not looking back at you.'

I hissed and shook his head, gripping door frame more tightly. Nightmares were forcing themselves on me while day....
"M...Mijo?" Boy looked at me. "Are you okay?"
I sighed and nodded, smiling weakly.
"Yes, don't worry. I'm just tired. I will sleep later."
Teru looked at me, worried but didn't say anything else.
I waved him and left the room. My eyes couldn't see a dark smile behind window, eyes glittering with mad ideas.

'Soon, Yuuji-kun... Sooner than you can imagine... Your time is running out....'

***

Days were passing by like a river... They changed to weeks and months...
Teru was doing great progress and after a while he was able to walk alone for shorter period of time. We were exercising every day and we got close. Again.
The only two things that were getting worse were my nightmares and his night fights for life. It first  happened in hospital. It was weak... He just started to gasp for breath from dream and after few seconds he calmed down. Since that day it only worsened. Doctors said that it was post-consequence from shock he suffered. They suggested me to visit some herbalist.
Those, who were wealthy didn't want to help. Or as they said : 'there wasn't cure for his case....'. I found a help in one old woman, living in dark and old Paris district. She was poor but nice person, looking at Teru and giving us all those herbs and home-made ointments and teas. "He resembles me my son...." I heard her to say with gentleness in her eyes. Always, I tried to gave her more money but she refused them with "I just hope he will be okay. And don't forget to always come for new, when you wont have enough. Control it properly, okay?".
Since then, I was giving Teru herbs when he tensed or started to choke and gasp for breath. He always calmed down after a while.
Concerning my nightmares.... I could say it was more like daymares. I was seeing that damn clown-like-creature everywhere. Smiling at me, giggling, luring me into darkness of corners...

I shuddered.

Just don't think about it, Yuuji.

I sighed and looked out from window. Teru was sitting on bench in garden, tugged in the blanket and reading book. I smiled and let dishes to be dishes, going out to garden, sitting next to him. He smiled as he spotted me.
"It's beautiful...." Boy said, looking at garden in front of us.
Well, I have to admit that it was. My mother loved flowers and had them everywhere. Especially roses. White, red, pink or yellow... Even blue. I smiled. I got that passion for this things from her side of family.
"Hmmmm... Do you think so?" I asked. Boy nodded with soft smile and closed the book.
"Much better than in hospital. It could be colorful there also but still.... " he shook his two-colored head. "I felt sadness there." he mumbled and touched the cover, sliding fingers over it. Suddenly there was drop. And another, glittering on brown surface. I frowned, looking at Teru but he wasn't crying. Another few drops. Now he looked up also. Clouds darkened and covered skies. Sun hid behind them also. I sighed. And it looked like beautiful sunny day in the morning.
"So back to house!" I stated and helped Teru to stand. He clutched onto my shoulder and looked down.
"Teru....?"
It was happening again. Pale face, wide eyes and his hands trembling.
"Teru, calm down.... shhhh...." I touched his forehead and brushed his bangs away. He gasped but nodded, trying to take a deep breath in. Rain drops were gently falling on us. I looked into boy's eyes with coaxing look. He reached for my hand and squeezed it. Soon he calmed a bit and his grasp loosened. I gently petted him.
"Thank you..." he whispered. I just smiled and lifted him as a princess, holding him close.
"H-hey! Mijo!"
"Don't struggle, it may return...." I said. He stopped and leaned against my chest.
"I'm sorry...." he whispered. "I'm useless.... I'm stealing everything from you...."
I looked at him. "No talking like that!" I said firmly. "I keep telling you that it's not true!"
We entered house and I rushed into his room, placing him on bed, sitting on a chair next to it. He drifted to sleep in no time. I sighed and rubbed my eyes. I was quite sleepy also so I just rested my head on a blanket....

***

Dark square. A night with no lights.
I was standing in a front of gate leading to yard of this gold palace... No one was here expect of me and serene voice that was singing its sad ballad somewhere in this darkness. I felt kind of relieved... Strange clown wasn't hunting me down this down. Suddenly the doors of castle opened and...

I opened my eyes and sleepily searched for source of my sudden  awakening. Gasping sounds. I looked at Teru and paled. He was struggling from dream, trying to catch a breath, choking. Immediately, I stood up and touched his forehead. High temperature.

Shit....

In no time I opened the drawer, where I placed herbs and cursed. There wasn't much of them left. I don't remember how I ran through whole house and back with water. I made Teru sit and caught him so he couldn't hit himself. As gently as I could, I forced him to drink herbs, keeping him in embrace. Soon, his tensed body relaxed a bit and he stopped kicking around. I sighed and tugged him to blanket, gazing at empty packages of herbs. I gritted my teeth.

If I didn't have a damn luck... Teru could be...

I hissed, placed Teru back on a bed and stood up. It could return, I knew. Even worse.... With its full force.
"Wait for me, Teru. I wil be right back, I promise."
I took my coat. Few drops from afternoon changed into heavy rain... thunder. But I didn't care. I ran down the street. No one was there, expect one homeless, sitting on a ground, giggling. He was crazy probably. I passed by him, not looking to his mad face.

"Good evening, Mister!" He laughed. "Today is the most beautiful time for start of the end, isn't it?"

I ignored him and soon he disappeared from my sight.

Who could know that he was right... Maybe only that clown in my head...

"Kamijo! Oh my... What are you doing here on time like this? You are soaked, darling!" Woman invited me in and immediately gave me towels. "Try to warm a bit at least!" She said as my mother.
I looked at her, smiling weakly.
"Thank you... Madam, I need some of those herbs again... I..." I sighed heavily. "I failed. I didn't control it properly and there was only small ammount. What if there wasn't anything?!" I asked and sat on the floor. She sighed, opening drawer and took out few packages, placing them to bigger package. She returned to me and helped me to stand.
"Look, Yuuji," she said softly. "You are taking great care of him. Things like these can happen to anyone."
"But if I control-"
"No. I don't want to hear words about you being stupid. Or useless. You aren't. I told you, so listen to me. You should listen to advices and wors od olders..." She chuckled but her voice was now more firm. "It's not important that there were just few. Important is, that he is okay for now and you came for another. In thunder like this, without waiting for sun. You are the best he could meet...." She amiled and gently placed her old hand on my cheek. "The most caring boy in this country. I hope that everything good will return to you." She gave me package and smiled.
Me either. "Thank you, ma'am."
She just nodded. "Wish you good luck. Both of you."
I nodded, bowed and with greet of good night I left.

The rain didn't stop, it was still heavy and on a top of everything, wind went crazy. It was impossible to run now. I cursed and looked around.
I was now on some square. It was huge but I couldn't really remember running by something like this... Maybe because of a hurry? Now when I was walking like some snail everything became cleaner... I looked around and spotted a castle. Gold castle.

My dream....

I stopped walking. Yes... That gate... I remember it, but... It was opened. Not like in my dreams. This one was... Waiting. Inviting people in, calling them.
I shook my head and looked down. I need to go to Teru again! But...
I could hear silent singing. Lullaby? I looked up. Even in windows, there were lights of candles. Orange and cosy light of home. Just for few second... Just little peak inside...

Come....

I don't know how but I was standing in front of doors to the castle. I lost package of herbs but... It didn't seem like an important bussiness to me now... I could pick it up later.
I leaned against the massive doors and they opened without any problems. Like if they were waiting for me. I smiled and stepped in, drops of water falling onto shining floor. I was passing by old but magnificent portraits of kings and furniture that was brought here from countries all around the world probably. I was amazed.
"Come home, my rose...."
That calling. I smiled and started to run towards the beautiful voice, my feet chosing direction on its own. They knew where to go...
I entered some throne room. It was glittering in the darkness with all its glory. I smiled widely and turned  around, making circle and laughing.
"My King... Welcome back..." Serene voice came from direction of throne. I glanced there. A beautiful goth was standing there, next to it. I remembered him... He saved me back then...
"Come here, my dear Louis..." He reached for me.
I smiled and took his hand.
All the things were washed away. Nothing mattered now. Finally, I was...
"I'm back home, Mana-san..."
And a silent laugh was heard from behind the throne.
"A time finally caught you..."
