Ten and the Month of Posts
This all started 'cause I polished my nails with himawari over Fourth of July Weekend.
It was one of those spur of the moment things. I was in VI talking to Mari, and she was doing her nails in Iron Man colors. It sounded fun, so I stopped on the way home and bought a couple of cheap polishes and joined her on XBL to paint our nails and talk about various things. It went rather well for someone who doesn't really ever paint her nails, and so I kept the polish on for sometime after that.
And in those some days after that, I found myself scrubbing the kitchen floor. I looked down at the juxtaposition of wipe and polished nails and thought: "There's an LJ post in this."
I never did write that post, but it was the seed for several smaller posts in my head, and when November and NaNo came around, I decided that this would be my project for the year. I'm not very good at ever finishing my NaNos, even if I hit 50k words; this year, I turned it around and made sure I did something every day, even though it surely wouldn't hit 50k of words. And sometimes those posts were fun and funny, and sometimes they were a slog, and sometimes I had to wipe and start all over again when the post just died in my brain.
But it has been a fun month of just randomly talking to yall. I can't say I'll keep it up in the future, but possibly I will be around more than I have. As much as I enjoy Tumblr and Twitter, it is nice to come back to the old stomping grounds, have fun finding the right icons and moods, pick out the tags for everything, and put down some thoughts.
