I've talked before about how Mari and I name and seed our Minecraft worlds. It's sort of a natural outgrowth of our respective careers and nerdiness, after all; she's an archaeologist, I'm a linguist in the Southwest, and we both really enjoyed Chip & Ironicus's Uncharted LPs. And when you're also both kind of indecisive, it's nice to have a theme

See--while said legendary Viking city is awesome--it hasn't quite entered pop culture in the same way the Seven Cities of Gold have. Which is why I'm so *head tilt* about the lack of information on those Seven Cities; you'd think something that's shown up in, say, that cartoon series they should totally have on DVD (one day I would love to watch that whole thing, too--perhaps we should get some sort of group watch together, hmm) would have a lot more information. Or hell, someone would've come in and named them what they thought they should be (though there are variations on Cibola, interestingly enough). But it's missing, except for in an old anthropology book.

I guess in this day and age, it's weird to come upon a lacuna like that.

See, and this is why I love 19th century eccentric rich dudes! When I was doing a lot of reading on the paranormal as the kid, some of my favorite stories were about the women and men who, say, came up with the lost islands of Mu and such, rather than what they claimed was actually there. HIstory! how I love you so, :)

Oh yeah, I have been reading Lost Continents by Sprague de Camp. Le Plongeon and Donnelly and Churchward are the best. How could I forget good old Aac, Coh, and Queen Moo (of Mu)?
