You just have to wait~ (August music)

Sep 13, 2012 20:51

The Albuquerque weather since I got back has been this interesting mixture of not quite warm enough for the season, rainy, and in the last couple of days, downright chilly. Which I love, truth be told, but it also makes me want to hibernate. Plus I finally got off my ass and went and gave platelets on Monday, so that rendered unto me fuzzy brain for the rest of the week, it seems. But my arm came through unbruised, though a little sore, and I'm sure once I get back into the swing of donating I will not be so damn weebly after it.

Anyways. August music post,

5. The Dead Milkman - Bitchin' Camaro - I must be, the Bahamas are islands
Life moves in weird circles and cycles. Freshman year of high school, a guy friend of mine used to like to quote this band to me. One of my department buddies loved them. But I never actually really listened to them until this month. And, to be honest (and sorry to horrify, punk folks), I find them...kinda charming? Half of this song is a ridiculous dialogue over a bass line, for instance. I'm weird, I know.

4. Poets of the Fall - Dreaming Wide Awake - I'll dream you wide awake
I was showing pts the MV Imagica (big ole spoilers all over this for multiple series), for he had just finished Madoka and needed more exposure to gorgeous magical girl meta. (That vid is fantastic. So is the cover, but it's almost too perfectly creepy. It's like "The Killing Moon" cover by Nouvelle Vague, which is so delicately freaky.) Clicking around, I found the same artist's vid for Macross Frontier, and of course had to watch! It was set to this song. Delicious, delicious rock.

3. The Supremes - You Can't Hurry Lovw - Love don't come easy, it's a game of give or take
Ever had a song you've heard a million times somehow get around that repetition to hit you upside the headt? Maybe it was because I was packing for my trip back to NM, or maybe it was the grey day, but this song gut-punched me last month. And it's a family tradition to not really like the Supremes, but no, this one really worked on me. And that's all I have to say about that.

2. Johnny Western - Ballad of Paladin - A chess knight of silver is his badge of trust
Multi song. Someone brought this one up in the multiplayer thread I read - it was a song played over a match - and since I have learned to play and love my Paladin character throughout last month, I had to check it out. Turns out, I am a sucker for this style of song. It was the ending theme for "Have Gun - Will Travel," which was a famous Western, and became a famous phrase. It is ever so slightly out of my range, but this does not stop me from serenading folks on the multi mic with it anyways. And to all of them, I apologize ;)

1. Throwing Muses - Tar Kissers - Kissing you's like kissing gravel, it feels like getting off
Funny story; I was randomly looking through journal entries and found one where I uploaded a bunch of angry-ish songs, including this one. Pow! Zap! I was all about this song, all over again. And then, just because, it was fucking impossible to find it, legally or illegally. I believe I had to cross the streams in the halls of YouTube just to open a small portal to a half-decent MP3. So, you know, enjoy it, yall :)

Random other music
John Lennon - Working Class Hero and every other recognizeable cover of it on Youtube...
I swear I had to have heard this song some time before in my life, but...apparently not. Huh.

Care of the_firefly, there's
Eri Kitamura - Baby Butterfly - I'm a total sucker for a Big Band sound, and this song weaves that with some rockin' guitar at points to just make for a nice musical uplift.

And I meant to link "The Everlasting Guilty Crown" by supercell/EGOIST, but it is not to be found on YouTube. She's been reccing me that song since the beginning of the year, though, SO. If you can find it, by all means, give it a listen.

i'm a hero, music, chillin', my body is not friendly!
