I suppose the more I teach, the more likely this becomes

Scene: Yesterday, the Uptown Apple store*

Background: hoshizora and I, after having delicious tonkatsu based food (Motto: Win in every bite!), went on a mini-quest to get him Snow Leopard.

The Happening: HZ grabs a store clerk to go get the Leopard of Snow. I wander over to the iPods, making idle comments on them in my mind, like, "Wow, I'd lose a Shuffle so quickly" and "Huh, is that the price of a Nano these days? I could get one for--"

And then. From behind, words that cut the noise of the Apple store with sharp clarity:

"Ten**, why aren't you grading?"

I turn. And there, in adorable Apple store teal, is one of my students.

Now, I can't give a name to said student, but I do recognize him--as I quickly have to verify for him. He continues to rib me about grading; I tell him the multiple choice had a secret, mwee hee hee, and that I may need to rebalance points. He mentions, offhandedly, he can help me with any questions!--oh, but what about our total grades? It'd be really nice to see those, 'cause the semester is over halfway over and there's really only a bit more and is there extra credit? And he can totally help me if I have any questions!

It's a quick, sharp encounter. Reeling away, I go to find HZ. He's not near the back (woah, is that a space-age, wall-blending door there? Nice!) and I start to get, just a little, just a touch frantic. What if--where could he have--

Wait, there, there! Black sweater! FOUND.

"Was that a student?" he asks as we walk out. I whine out an affirmative, but quietly. There's a clot of employees by the door, and I don't want to draw their attention.

Of course, then we have to stop to look at the GIANT cinema display, which is, yea verily, GIANT. But it's only a moment, and then--freedom in the fall night air!

Except now I really do need to go get more of that grading done. I wish this stupid...whatever-it-is hanging out and causing immune system blips would bugger off, because it's killing my concentration something terrible. Nevertheless, I must soldier on, soldier through...and get something-something on these grades! I must!
*The only Apple store in town
**Not the actual name said student used. If he had...*shudder*

ah students, sooo behind
