All these little things keep coming up, so let's go to a list, shall we?
LIST! OF! UNORDEREDNESS!
- As a follow-up to the Comcast thing--I bitched about it on Twitter and got a message from Comcast Cares, who has sort of made a name for himself as the guy to go to with Comcast questions (if you're on Twitter). He said that the whole e-mail account thing is a problem they need to address. No kidding, says I.
- Incidentally, I finally got my e-mail back. This morning. And though I know I have comments from before, they didn't show up. So pardon me if I missed something? *grumble grumble*
- Speaking of amazing things, I got a check from my former apartment complex. One, they're actually giving me money back. Two, it's a considerable amount of money. Everyone I've told this to? Has been like, "CASH THAT CHECK NOW BEFORE THEY TAKE IT BACK." No seriously, I was pretty damn sure they were gonna send me a bill.
- I also got my Blooddrop order today, and made everyone smell the Country Bumpkin Mousse de Bain. Because it smells delicious.
- The Melting Pot last night was AMAZING. So much food! So much good food! And wine, and awesome company, and much laughing and giggling and driving people out of the restaurant due to being loud. Of course, they sorta screwed us over in terms of the reservation, as they put us at two unconnected tables. But Root had an awesome time, and really, I think we all did, and did I mention the fabulous food? At one point, they set chocolate and caramel ON FIRE. With BOOZE. And made sparks with CINNAMON! Really, that's hard to top!
- My birthday is sneaking up on me. It's my Saturn Return year, I think, which means...big changes? We shall see. I plan to spend the day sleeping and reading, but most likely will be grading instead.
- School starts next Monday. (AIIE) I have finally worked through most of my syllabus, to find that...I need to rework my syllabus. *sigh* I'm going from three days a week to two, which means less work as far as daily grading, but it also means condensing down to two classes, and I'm not so good at that. I have a colleague's syllabus to look at, too, but I figure I'll be fiddling with it for the rest of the weekend.
- I have the week off work, though, so I can figure out what my schedule is gonna be for the coming semester. My boss would like to kick me up to 25 hours a week. I am a little O_o at the idea, but we'll see what I can swing.
- And I've sorta figured out comps for this semester, which is another thing to get crackin' (more) on. *bites nails*
- So yeah, it's gonna be a busy time for me. I may need to engage in the occasional primal scream upon this journal, because I really need to pull it together this semester, and as this summer has shown, that...can be a tall order.
- On the other hand? There's good things. Like my kitty, who at the moment is bravely taking on a plastic bag. Or Penko's marvelous humor. The warmth of friends, on and offline. Some of the writing I've been doing. The new apartment, which has its quirks but has so far been pretty spiffy.
There is always good with the bad. Really. Just gotta keep that in mind with the stress hurricane that's coming.
