In which there are traffic jams, frogs for the bathroom and an amazing Walgreens

I'm sure I had a post topic this morning.

It was dry and cool, cutting and cerebral, the perfect (actual) Martini of a post.

But then I spent something like thirty minutes stuck in traffic on Paseo and that heat will wash anything out of one's head.

The reason I was heading out is because Pengiko (formerly SM) is going to stay with me for a bit before she leaves to do her dissertation work. Or rather, she'll be staying in the actual apartment until the house-sitting gig ends and I get over there. Which won't be 'til the 13th, really, 'cause that's when the bed comes. Anyhoo, so I went to pick her and some stuff up after work, then drove back down to NMH and sacked out. (Yes, I didn't sleep again, GO ME. I don't think that'll be as much of a problem tonight. At least, it better not be.)

When I awoke, I confirmed there was no trivia (for our group, at least) tonight, so we headed up to Target to do some important shopping: bathroom furnishings!

What? I usually don't end up customizing a ton of my apartment--something I hope to avoid this time--but the bathroom is all mine, baby. So it's full of frog stuff now, because it is a long tradition among my people to make sure there are frogs in the bathroom. In this case, there are frogs on the curtain rod, the inner liner has frogs, and the bathmat is--you guessed it!--a frog. I need to go back for a frog soap dish, but the one in the store at the time was broken.

We also picked up an air mattress for her--I really have no furniture!--and then had to go to the local Walgreens to get batteries to inflate it. And guys, guys, I live near the most beautiful Walgreens. HUGE aisles, everything neat and well-lit, and a giant liquor section. Plus it's twenty-four hours! I was actually thanking Pengiko for having to go there, because it filled me with <3s. Seriously.

Hey, the proximity of decent 24 hour places is important to a night owll. Not to mention closer access to booze than usual. I mean, it's not like I drink by myself (ever), but now I don't have an excuse not to!

Now I have to throw down some words before the Muse gets cranky, and then collapse. I had a nap earlier today, and it barely took the edge off. My boss commented on it today. NEEDZ MOAR SLEEP RAR.

random babbly love, thirty days, life, the sandman hates me
