My last two Fridays have been pretty amusing and interesting.
Last Friday,
himawari,
raynos and I met in chat for our weekly re/watch of SPN. The episode was, as I said, highlarious, and some of that must have rubbed off in chat because we just went off the rails. We: came up with parts of John Winchester's to-do list and decided who would write what; found SPN in Japanese; watched it in Japanese and critiqued the voice acting (and in my case, the translation); created the Deanman and Sammyman theme songs; discussed various AUs and ARs; and just generally laughed a ton. It was sparkly. :)
This Friday, I planned to stay in the Lab and work, and all was very serious. Then as I was headed back from the SUB, Dee stopped me on the steps and asked if I wanted to go to the Yup'ik concert. Did I? When I had work to do?
Of course I did! So I ended up going to see
Pamyua in Keller Hall. It is not that big of a stage, and it was not crowded, which made it feel all intimate and homey. And the band was awesome--a great mix of traditional and modern in both lyrics and music, though I could've done with a little less reggae--and so full of energy I wanted to get up and dance. Their between song banter was genuinely cheerful even if a little hokey, but it worked within the atmosphere of the show. I spent a third of the time grooving and a third of the time trying to analyze their choral arrangement--three guys, one girl, so it was fun to try to split the parts--and another third (well, not quite) of the time really missing performance. Watching the lead singer get into it made me realize how much I miss singing--I did choir for four years in high school--but is also kinda funny, as I don't have much of a voice. But I can miss the JUICE of the stage, no?
Afterwards Dee and I took a brief green room tour, looking for CDs, but that was pretty unsuccessful. So we headed back to the Lab, and I was totally infected by the energy of the music and bouncing around, so I ended up asking him something kinda personal. He must have been infected, too, 'cause he answered! Eventually. And let me just say that while I cannot reveal the content, I can tell you, oh faithful flist, that I WAS RIGHT and that made me even more bouncy.
And then I went back to the lab and played dictionary for a few hours while watching SPN and chatting. Nothing too important.
Now I am again at the Lab, doing nothing! Well, mostly nothing for school. I've done some Circle maintainence, caught up with comments, and finally e-mailed my Grandma back. And put two braids in my hair. Hopefully, this entry will clear my palate for a bit, and I'll be able to organize my thoughts enough to figure out where to go next. *crosses fingers*
