Right after GWN's class today, I came back to the Lab and felt...warm. Almost feverish. I asked around, but it seemed to be mostly in the my head. Nevertheless, I told the Grrlz I was gonna skip the work out tonight and go home.
Seven plus hours later...
Still, it was a fascinating evening. I was faffing off in the Lab when Tay came in, and we got into a long conversation about his future. Then Nia came in, ostensibly to work, and there was a short period of working. Which turned into a period of bitching about 101 students. And conversation just spiraled from there--talking about classes, students, profs, work to be done, Professors, ISES (the response forms students fill out at the end of classes, which are done anonymously and are often quite brutal), language...oh, a bunch of things. It was the kind of conversation the Grad. Lab occasionally hosts in the evenings, but with the flow and casualness of a Happy Hour. I stepped out a few times to smoke (and dance--"Dandelion" is a song I can't listen to just once, and it makes me want to bop about), and once went out into the Pit to start a fic challenge. (Sweetpea Challenge~!) When I came back in, we started packing up, then got into a long, heated discussion of politics, with Nia throwing out questions ("Why can't it change NOW?") and Tay and I trying to answer. It was a good intellectual workout, and a great bonding experience.
...and yeah, words are not adequate when I can't transcribe stuff, but record, record, record away I must.
And now the Colbert Report rerun is about done, so to bed, to bed for me.
