I'm a hero!

I gave my two pints of blood today. It took much longer than usual, 'cause they couldn't get a blood pressure reading on me. Two machines and seven tries (or possibly nine--okay, probably seven) later, they finally brought someone in to do it manually. Which apparently they don't like to do, but since I had a diastolic in the sixties, it turned out to be necessary. (Me: I know I'm tired, but I didn't think I was an ACTUAL zombie.) I did successfully predict my top number, though.

I also apparently have a good vein in my left arm. Both arms = A+++ veins, would draw again! Most excellent.

The machine next to me to had a malfunction, which meant a little bit of a mess. (Not when it malfunctioned initially with the patient connected, but later, when they were trying to unhook all the tubing.)

Blood tech: Does this bother you?
Me: Huh?
Blood tech: This...*indicates machine and mess of tubing* Do you need a curtain?
Me: Nope! Actually, I've been looking for my baggy...
Blood tech: Right in the center.
Me: *watches blood fill bag* YAY.

What can I say? Blood's kinda (okay, it IS) pretty when encased in plastic.

The rest of the day was taken up with a) going home but not napping; b) going to school and whipping up a handout for COM's class while not really understanding the reading; c) staying in the lab until now because my car is in the structure, and all my money needs to go to the dentist tomorrow. Which is funny, 'cause my request of Jai this morning was to tell me to go to bed when I got home, and now she's sleeping before I am. *sigh*

And on that note, I fiiiinally get to go home. \o/
