Olympics Olympics Olympics!

I'm such a Winter Olympics fangirl. I skipped the Opening Ceremonies, but I've been glued to coverage after that. Skating! Skiing! Snowboarding! LUUUUUGE! in all their variations. Cheesy sports montages to bad alt-rock music! Insane use of computer graphics! A different commenter for every sport! (My favorites so far are the Canadian who does downhill skiing and Dan Jansen.) American announcers butchering pronunciation! ("Pragelato" is my favorite--they shred that word.) I am wibbling over missing coverage on Mon and Wed, since I have class at two both days and that's usually when coverage starts. And my recording skillz are hit and miss on this TV.

I do wish NBC would stop talking about Michelle Kwan, though. I love the woman. FATE HATES HER. It makes me want to cry everytime, and I can't imagine how bad it is for her.

It's also been fantastic to watch the announcers go, "And here's the favorite!" Ten minutes later, "And the favorite is nowhere near medal contention!" Which seems to be happening an awful lot. The Olympics are FANTASTIC like that.

Yum, snowboarders up next. Half-pipe! *watches like watching fireworks: ooooo. aaaaah. ohhhh.*

It reminds me that I've been on LJ, in one journal or another, for four years now, since some of the early muzukashii entries are about the Winter Olympics in SLC. Go me!And check my pretty icon, courtesy of hallowd. Yaaaaay. (It's a SOWN thing. And a phonological thing. And, well, a Japanese fangirl thing. Really, it's so many things, and it's preeetty.)

fannish proclivities, life, grad school
