That wasn't just a long weekend... that was the longest weekend I've ever experienced - not that it was all weekend for me, but I'll get to that.
Thursday night
Em and I headed down to Sydney after work - to stay at the Sir
Stamford, Double Bay,
hookup courtesy of
Smem.
It gave me the first real chance to test out my new
TomTom, which fared pretty well. It directed us to exactly where the hotel entrace was - however, there was nowhere to park, so we had to go around the block and get ourselves slightly lost (though the TomTom never was) before getting back near the hotel so we could check in and find out where the car park was.
We had dinner at The Stamford Plaza, before going back to the hotel and relaxing in the hotel pool and spa, which - aside from ourselves - was completely empty.
Friday was a day in the city - complete with ridiculous $45 parking charge. It involved
Alannah Hill,
Red Eye Records, a sushi train, loads of kitsche junk in China Town and
randoms.
Afterwards - and the major reason we went south in the first place - was the
Gluten Free Gourmet Expo at
Sydney Olympic Park. Not sure exactly how the TomTom was trying to get us there, but after we headed towards Parramatta Rd, it figured its shit out and gave us the directions we wanted in the first place.
Back in Newcastle, we got drunk and talked shit.
Saturday, Em had work, so Smem and I did next-to-nothing all day (mostly watching
Family Guy so I could record more quotes for SMS tones).
Saturday night was another trip down to Sydney and back to collect
Nay from the airport.
Sunday I was at work (having swapped Friday for Sunday) and by the time I got out - and had to make another trip to Sydney and back to collect M&D from the airport - I was completely exhausted.
Monday, back at work, I was wrecked and useless... really starting to become sick.
Which brings me to today (and last night, as well, but the details of that aren't really for public consumption) where I'm at Em's place, relaxing and trying to get better.
