Amber Sunsets and Golden thingamabobbers....and Steel Reserve

I just watched 'The Golden Compass' three times, in a row. Or something like that. And it is by far, in my very vast and wide viewing of movies from romance to sci-fi, the best move I have seen to date. Not just because it blends fantasy with hope, or faeries with the natural order of things. It was just a damn good movie. And it had armored polar bears. Top of the food chain, with armor? I mean, come one. That's just plain damn awesome.
Am I still a christian? Yes. I still believe that Jesus Christ died for our sins and rose again three days later, defeating death and making us forgiven and able to enter heaven. Someday. Dare I say it inspired me? Yes, inspired, that you can write a fiction, sci-fi, faerie novel and it doesn't have to involve elves and orcs and dwarves. How amazing. How refreshing. And the fact that it is selling well is also refreshing. It is also refreshing that it was written by an atheist. A different point of view. That is nice. Not to knock C.S Lewis or J.R Tolkien, I would never knock them or assume that they are only known for such books as The Chronicles of Narnia or The Lord of the Rings, I mean, what about "Till we have face" or "A grief observed" and I must be honest and say I don't know any other works by J.R Tolkien, probably because I am spelling his name wrong. they wrote amazing novels, I guess I am knocking Chris Paolini or whatever his name is. Not an ounce of creativity in his bones. So tomorrow, after I sober up, I am going to buy the Golden Compass books and read all of them. and then I'm going to start piecing together my own novel, my own sci-fi/faerie/mystical realism novel. Or something like that.

Goodnight

and do what you love
