Scene 2 - It is an honour that I dream not of

Oct 09, 2008 09:43

The dreary mist hath lifted, as friend Silk did predict, and from mine window the whole of a city doth stretch before me.

Good Tybalt! I would walk in it, and learn the paths and shape of things. My new home, though home it be for only this brief while, should not a stranger be.

walk on the beach, gren, romeo candore van de montague, caspian, learning the city, cousin tybalt, tybalt is overprotective

Pray wait but a little. My hours juggling trays and cups grow shorter. I will escort thee. Together we will walk wherever you wish.

I should await thy escort cousin, but another has made his offer. I walk with good lord Gren to see the beach.

And what is Gren? I have not met him nor exchanged words.

I feel certain he be a man, cousin, though I shall not be assured of this 'til we meet. He tells of a beach, I wish to compare its beauty to that of Verona.

And men can be the shape of dogs, swine and other foul animals in a great guise not oft seen until a critical moment that leaves one bereft.

Thinkest thou that all dogs shall harm do? And none act with kindness? I shall wish for thine eyes to see less darkness, cousin, and more joy.

Dark and light alike have their perils. One must keep senses clear. Even joys have their sting, much like the bloom of roses that hide harsh, barbs 'neath velvet petals that the perfumed scents do not speak of.

...But are not the rose's barbs worth their prick, if beauty enough surrounds to sooth? Wouldst thou have me never to live and love, for fear of such stings?

Never is a stretch of time not meant for any. If Juliet can smile but a little longer Tybalt will ensure it so not from fear. It is what unkind things unknown that have unforseen consequences.

Go to if thou wilt with Gren. Return not long after sunset, else I come to fetch you.

This pledge I swear thee, sweet cousin! I shall my return swiftly make, like dove come home to roost, 'fore sun hath give over to moon. And no more cause for Tybalt's sorrows be.
