MLK day

It appears I have not written since before Christmas break, so an update is due. My break went by incredibly fast, as they tend to do. During my brief interlude at Crawfordsville, I worked at the movie theatre, the vet clinic, and was an assistant swim coach for my middle school. Needless to say, I was busy on most days. We had my mom's whole side of the family over for Christmas, so the house was full of laughter, storytelling, card games (spades and euchre being the main choices), and more than just a little bit of drinking. I was amazed by how much Jack Daniels my uncle could put back. After my extended family left, the days went by at a fairly rapid rate.

I spent New Year's Eve at Andrea's house in Cville with her, her sister, Cameron, Thomas Bever, and an old student teacher from my high school (he was surprisingly hilarious). We spent the evening watching weird movies and playing acting games. Most of us had the energy (except Andrea the bum) to stay up all night talking and laughing. About 9am I realized I had to go home and get ready for a 9 hour shift at the movie theatre. Whoops. As I could barely stay awake, my manager let me go to the gas station and get Nodoz. For those ignorant of what these are, they are caffeine pills. The directions said that I should only take one-half to one tablet at a time. I decided I required a bit more than that...so I took five. Four at once, a fifth later. During the next half hour, I became increasingly jittery and more or less bounced off the walls all day. Quite an interesting feeling. After work, I somehow made it home, ate, showered, and passed out for twelve hours. It was the best sleep I had over break. So that was my story.

I cannot believe that I'm in my fourth semester at Purdue. One of my goals this semester is to obtain a 4.0...probably too high of a goal, but I at least want to try. I am taking the last part of general chemistry, calculus, developmental biology, spanish, and a history class about the Constitution. Somehow I do not have class on Tuesday and only chem lab on Thursdays, so I should think about getting a job on campus.

I officially have a place to live next fall. I am rooming with Bob, Luke, and their neighbor Kim. Our apartment is literally a block off of Northwestern. I am pretty excited about next year.

I went to church with Andrea last night...her pastor is great, the people are really nice, and they let me be a lecturer. It's so laid back, I'm going to back next Sunday. I have never given someone else communion...it was a neat idea. Well...I suppose I should do some of the homework that I have been putting off all weekend...thank the Lord for Martin Luther King!
