Amon Amarth @ JAXX 5/2/2011
Went to see an evening w/ Amon Amarth at Jaxx w/ John and Kate (and Meredith). The show was SOLD OUT, and Kate/Meredith got her a ticket onlineface. When we got there, the line to GET IN was snaked from Jaxx, all along the shopping strip mall to basically the Einstein bros bagels. And it was way past time doors started. And people were only slowly gaining entry.
We waited in line and slowly advanced. We should have grabbed a 6 pack from 7-11 and drank in the streets. WHATEVER. Eventually we got in and there were SO MANY PPL. And it was HUMID and the stench of the unwashed permeated the air.
I know John and I were down in the pit for the first set, I think Kate and Meredith rolled down at some point, but it was chaos. They sounded rather good and BRUTAL. Then when they took a break, we crawled from the pit for sweet sweet beverages. And the ensuing long ass line at the bar.
I don't normally ask for Dos Equis, but when I do, I forget I don't really like it that much at all.
Second set started while we were finishing beverages, and Missed some of TWILIGHT OF THE THUNDER GODS. But then John and I entered the floor. Eventually Kate and Meredith made their way down, but almost got CAUGHT IN A MOSH. John saw the pit break out just as they got to some place and stood. LOLsz. Another LOL part was the singer talking about the THOR movie coming out and how he didn't approve etc. etc. and that he was actually called ASATOR.
Anyways, so the second set was better, IMO. A bit muddy sounding at parts, but still a very good and intense show. A lot of pits, a lack of breathing. The AC was allegedly on but there was no way you'd know. I was surprised no one was fainting from the heat or lack of O2.
