Woke up late/RPW

I woke up at 3:15 pm, which is fine, because thelostgm is out of town anyway, and because I only have two days off in a row, so there was little point in not being nocturnal today and yesterday.



I just got back from the gym. I did 15 minutes of cardio, then I started on the homework that Scott from Crossfit 'Cuse assigned. He said I was to do overhead squats every single day, 3-5 sets of 3-5 reps, if I did nothing else. I started with the warm-up of 2 sets of 15 reps each of push-ups, sit-ups and non-weighted Tabata-esque squats. Then I did five sets of five with the 45-pound Olympic bar. The first set was fugly, then each set became progressively nicer until I had a perfect set on number five. I really have to think about keeping my heels planted down. That is my major technique flaw.

I also did three sets of push presses with 45-55-65 pounds. I didn't want to overdo it because I know that I am going to be doing overhead squats every day. I did some knees to elbows. I can't actually get my knees to my elbows, but I do try. I did three sets of 20 box jumps. Then I drilled lots of hand stands with little handstand push-ups. Handstands are my absolute favorite Crossfit thing so I do them a lot.

Reading: Collapse, by Jared Diamond, author of Guns, Germs, and Steel. It's interesting, but it reads like a text book. I was a good girl last night too and read the latest Journal of Emergency Nursing cover to cover. Every single thing in there has value to my job. I never ask, "when am I going to use this?"

Planning: Burning Wheel RPG tonight with people. Eat dinner and watch some Mythbusters before that probably. Try and call my dad.

Wearing: Stinky workout stuff.
