We are lucky our lives are so long. Ten years ago, I was 16. I remember that. I remember drinking chocolate shakes to school in my Mercury Sable, listening to Sheryl Crow and what not. I remember what I was wearing and what classes I was in

lol. I don't know what it is, but I always hate the distant past.
But back to my point-- that was only ten years go. And it already seems dated enough. Can you imagine being 70 and looking back to when you were 16? Over the decades and decades? How other-worldly that must seem. How heartbreaking,
surely!

What's interesting--I don't know who said it--maybe my grandpa--is that in your head, you're always 14. You know, in your head, you're always young. It's just the body that goes to pieces...
But isn't that terrifying. Can you imagine--all the hopes, dreams, desires, sadness, joy, etc, but confined to such a weak, pathetic, withered old body! that everyone dismisses! and cut off from the knowledge of what's going on. Out of touch due to circumstances.. Unaware of the fashions, the music, the technology, the slang.. Stranger in a strange world
