November 2010, Paris

My Paris in a list, because embarrassingly enough, I sometimes cram my thoughts into 140 characters.

- Saw the Chinese head of state, and a few of the people who hate him.
- Lit a candle at Notre Dame & left a Filipino prayer in their public prayer books. I like our language.
- Surprisingly, went to Montmartre to possibly get stuff for the house, but was asked out twice instead.
- Had a 25-min or so conversation with a Frenchman about Philippine tourism. I wasn't very friendly I think, which probably defeated my side of the conversation.
- Caught a random Bob Marley cover concert which quickly turned into an open mic. I got seriously tempted to sing since no one there knew me anyway and what's the harm? But I am a chicken.
- Typically, stole food from our hotel to bring at the Tuileries for second breakfast. Probably karma, I got rained on really badly and had to duck into a cafe in the middle of God knows where. Good thing I had coins on me.
- Met Filipinos who work for local television, based in Paris. That was slightly encouraging.
- Ate free 3-course meals, thanks to my parents' convention. Including a meal in the Eiffel Tower. Extravagant, but oh well. When else am I gonna get to eat there?
- Got lost walking for hours and hours. The pain taught me how to read maps.
- Went to the Catacombs and was probably the noisiest person there. Never seen so many bones in my life. There were probably millions of people there. Billions even. Some random French dude scared me, he hid behind a corner and jumped at me. I don't get these French people sometimes.
- Went to the Pantheon not expecting to see Focault's Pendulum. It was amazing. Also, I got very tempted to touch it. If it falls out of place, that's probably how we'll know the world's coming to an end.
- I once had the vaguely misled idea that being made kissy faces at by a random French stranger in the middle of the street would be cute and charming. Obviously, romantic comedies sometimes lie. It was horrifying.
- Spent 2 hours of my last day in Paris in an old, near-empty Church. I don't know why exactly, but the quiet was nice. It definitely didn't feel like 2 hours.
- This is the only time I'll admit it, but I never wear enough clothing. Had to defrost on the 2nd floor of some cafe, but it was kinda rewarding in its own right, despite the overpriced tea. Mainly because they had a Sam Cooke playlist, and an empty seat by the window.

Now, back to real life.
