Instead of reading and doing an annotated bibliography over spring break, I decided to write an analysis on lies in Arthurian literature. Of course, back when I was going to do a paper about Kei/Kay, I was thinking up a title.
I forgot what "seneschal" was in OE, so I pulled out my Beowulf - no luck remembering if there was a mention (though I was tempted to make a "cup-bearer"), but then I found it on Online Etymology Dictionary: sceal (m.sg.n.)
From there I got "Hwær ūre mīne sceales is?" (If this comes through, I will be surprised.)
Then when I changed my mind to my current topic, I came up with the title "Lies, Damned Lies, and Fancy Clothes: duality of not telling the truth."
BUT.
I was flipping through my OE textbooks to remember genetive forms and such when I stumbled upon a line that says, "Dear men, know that which truth is."
... Score. <3
"Lēofan men, gecnāwað þæt sōð is."
edit: Huh. The coding went through (WHY IS THERE NO EXTENDED ASH, HEY!?), but my heart did not. Foiled. Now re-entered in not nearly as cool less than threeage.
i am a nerd,
ten level up !
