i'm a relatively new sufjan stevens fan but i don't own any of his cds. which one should i start with? also, can anyone recommend books? book_club isn't really doing it for me.

For Sufjan, start with IlliNOISE, definitely. It's happy and upbeat, but its also got a lot of soft, mellow tunes--a good variety. And if you want something really really mellow (more along the lines of Elliot Smith with that cool voice and subtle background), then check out Seven Swans. Both AMAZING.
JOIN MY SUMMER AP ENGLISH BOOK CLUB! I'm trying to invite everyone in AP I can get a hold of, but at this point it's mostly only girls (like the Alyssas, Melinda, Kyra, Rachael, etc.). We get to eat exotic foods and toast marshmellows on blankets and... discuss books, I guess. We haven't had our first meeting yet, but JOIN!
