A new house, a new car, and some other random goings on

Aug 26, 2005 11:58

I haven't updated this thing in a while, and quite a bit has happened. Many of you may have heard me mention that I may be moving sometime soon. I didn't know I was moving on Tuesday until Monday. I packed up everything I could monday afternoon, then went to work. I then took all of my boxes, with Jesse's help since I had no car, to the new place. I went to work that night and the plan was to get off and have Mike help me move my furniture. They were supposed to be done with their stuff by then. So I get to the old house at about 11:30pm, and they hadn't taken anything to the new place yet. They had one load almost done, so we finished it and drove to the new place. The U-Haul sucked, so we had to drive super slow, and it took way longer to get there than it should have. I broke the biggest sweat ever unloading their stuff. It took forever. Jesse stopped by but didn't stay long. I knew it would take a while and she had her first day of school the next morning. She had to go home and get some sleep, which she didnt' actually wind up doing. She waited up all night for me to get done moving and call her. I did call her when I finished, but it was at 6:30am. Moving took so damn long. My desk was the biggest pain in the ass! It's the heaviest thing we had to move in the entire house. It was terrible. After lots of work Mike and I got it into the U-Haul. The desk was the last thing to unload at the new house, and Mike and Rivka did not have much time before they had to be at the airport, so we didn't have time to get it into the house. So we took the desk into the garage. Jesse said she'll help me move it in, but it's so heavy. I'm not sure we can get it. Mike and I had lots of trouble, and Mike's way stronger than Jesse (no offense cutie!). We may still give it a try though.

So there's a backstory to this. I wasn't going to be able to move in right away because I had no car yet, and the new place is way further from certain things. The bus ride to the mall from the new house takes an hour! So Mike and Rivka decided that they needed me to move in with them to watch their cat and their stuff so they loaned me some money to finish getting my car.

Yesterday, Jesse drove me to Crestview to get it. First we stopped by Rentz's Kettle, the restaurant my mother manages, and ate lunch. Jesse finally got to meet my mom. She said later that she was scared of her. My mom's the nicest woman ever though, I swear! So we went to my sister's house and hung out for maybe twenty minutes while Derek, my brother-in-law got up and dressed for work. We then went to his mechanic to get the car. I paid the nearly two hundred dollar bill to get it and drove it back to Pcola with an illegal tag on it and no insurance! So when we got back I went and got insurance which cost me nearly another two hundred dollars for the down payment, and it's costing me thirteen dollars a month more this time than the last time I had insurance.

So Jesse and I went to Nobusei last night for hibachi. She didn't realize that part of Hibachi was that the guy cooking the food tells jokes and talks to the customers and stuff. She's so shy and easily embarassed and the guy made fun of how young she looked, which she's kind of sensitive about I guess. He would ask her a question, and she would just stare at him like she didn't understand. Then he was like, "You speak engrish?" It was pretty funny, but she wouldn't laugh at the jokes and stuff, but that only made him mess with her more. The food was very good! We then rented the Goonies and watched it at my house, which I hadn't mentioned before, but is on Jackson Street near W. Jesse had never seen the Goonies if you can believe that!

So today I was woken up by the doorbell at 8:30am! I thought it might be Jesse. "Who else would stop by?" I wondered. So I looked through the peep-hole, and it was some guy with a green pick-up truck. I didn't know him so I went back to bed. I couldn't go back to sleep though, so I got up. The guy was still there, and surveying the property. Then he left. So I decided to get money from the bank and register my car. I didn't even have to wait five minutes because they weren't busy at all. But then it took an hour!!! First, she was having problems with my tag. I already had a plate that I was transfering but there was a hold on it for some reason. She had to call Tallahassee to find out what it was, and it took forever. I never did find out, but I had to spend a hundred dollars to buy a new plate! Grr!!!! She said they'd call me once Tallahassee was done researching it and let me know what was going on and they'd refund my money, which is good. While I was at it I got my address on my license and voter registration changed. I got a whole new license, which I wasn't expecting to do. I am unshaven today, so I look scruffy as hell in my pic. The new licenses look weird! they changed them. They're all colorful with a picture of the ocean or something in the background. So she was having computer problems and it took forever to get my license. I finally did and left and came to End of the Line to get some food and coffee. It feels good to be able to get around in my own vehicle again. Such freedom. I don't think I mentioned it yet, but it's a 1998 Ford Escort. It's not bad at all. It runs.

I was off work on Wednesday and Thursday of this week, which is the end of our work week, and I"m off on Friday and Saturday this week, which is just crazy. THat gives me four days in a row. It feels like a vacation, but with all the money I'm spending, I'm going broke as shit and I need some money! I think Stacy, my nighttime manager, hates me now or something, and I think she did it to fuck with my money. She's really pissing me off lately.

Okay, my vegan muffaletta is finally ready, so I'm going to eat now. My phone number is still the same at the new place if anyone wants to give me a call.
