The Doctor couldn't open the front door of the TARDIS. (Apparently he'd missed the stormtroopers, but not CJ's call.) At least, not right away. It took a good ten minutes and some rather dodgy work with the sonic screwdriver to melt enough of the snow in front of it for him to be able to peek outside...
And see a rather excessive amount of white on the ground. Far more suited, to say, Alberta, than to northern Virginia. Not to mention the cold. Chances were good that the power was out elsewhere. As in, places that didn't have a sentient time vortex for a power supply.
He couldn't shake the feeling that something was very, very wrong. Particularly when he checked Earth radar for himself...and found that there hadn't been storms anywhere else on the East Coast. For days. And that the National Weather Service stated that the weather should be 45 degrees Fahrenheit and sunny, for all rights and purposes.
Trouble indeed. And he wasn't about to leave CJ and Jack in the middle of it.
So he headed back to the wardrobe room and began digging...there were those coats he'd got when he'd stayed with the Inuit people a while back...snowshoes...
Twenty minutes later, he has his sonic screwdriver, flashlights electric torches, a wee space heater (from outer space, actually), some cans of food, a human standard first aid kit, a thermos of coffee and one of tea free radicals and tannins!, and a few blankets packed. Marching into the living room (and resembling a Sherpa), he stands and looks at his sword for a long time. There could be trouble if he takes it up to the school--but the last time they had inclement weather, there were zombies. And a sword sure as hell was handy then.
So he takes that too, and heads out into the cold.
((The Doctor is on his way up to FH. That said, it might take him a while to get there, especially as I'm heading out for a bit. Feel free to join him if you're somewhere between the school and the park. And christ, this plot is making me feel cold regardless of the fact that it's 50 degrees and sunny here...))
