Dunno how to title this one...

So, I got a call earlier this week from my bestest buddy Bruce. I hadn't heard from him for about a week and was a little worried, but didn't want to pester him so didn't call. I should have called. Turns out after I left his place last Sunday he went from being tired to being sick and throwing up, then it happened again and he felt dizzy and like he was going to pass out.  He called 911, the fire department sent an aid car to pick him up, they hooked him up the the monitoring equipment, and then HIS HEART STOPPED. He was only gone for a minute-ish, came to with a fireman pounding on his chest. They got him to the hospital, did some tests, determined that he has some strange neurological condition where every so often, the nerves that tell his heart to beat don't do their job correctly, leading to a slow heart rate, tiredness etc. This time they fell down on the job completely.

The cardiologist on call (who is happily at the top of his field) decided pretty damn quickly that they needed to fix this since Bruce had already DIED once (sorry for the caps, this is still kinda freaking me out,) and by Tuesday he had a pacemaker.

Poor Bruce is in the middle of a divorce he didn't want to have, just had to move out of his house into a new place by himself and replace the essentials, just bought a motorcycle for 10K, and now he can't work for who knows how long. He's got savings, but the expenses above were already cutting into that. So that's not good.

We talked on the phone, and we're moving in together.  I'm staying with him until he can get out of the deal he's got with his buddy for this condo he's renting, then we'll find a larger apartment.  This will help both of us save $, neither of us will have to live alone (kind of a scary prospect since we're both coming out of long-term relationships,) and we can keep an eye on each other's medical conditions.  Plus since we've been living in the  same town again I've  been at his place most of the time anyway.  This will  totally save me bus fare.  :-)  It'll be cramped, we're sort of converting the dining area into a bedroom for me.  But the bonus is that this will give us a few months to find out if we can live together before any leases get signed.  So hooray for that.  And I'll have hugs on tap, double hooray!

Wish us luck everyone; this is going to be a somewhat bumpy couple of months I think.  But at this point I'd rather have him where I can see him.  No friend escapes!  :-)

bruce, moving
