Fanmix - Haven - Nathan/Audrey (Nathan!Priest AU) - Gold Hair and Lightning

Sep 12, 2011 04:24

So this whole endeavor was borne of a vague dream where I saw Nathan Wournos holding the Eucharist over this head. Which is strange, since I'm not relgious at all (at ALL). But it was summer, and I got to laze around in bed a bit and I started wondering about how that image could make sense. Thus, this extreme AU. I began pautting songs into a playlist as a storyline coalesced in my head (thought I STILL don't know what to do with Duke - suggestions welcome!). I intended all summer to write for it, but it just hasn't happened yet. Once school and LSAT calm down, I'd like to revisit it in written form. But here it is in all its crazy glory. It's a little instrumental-heavy, but I'm okay with it since a lot of songs just wouldn't sound right for something set in this time period. It's called "classic(al)" music for a reason.
Nathan Wournos is a priest in sixteenth century Germany. His mother died when he was a young man; it affected him greatly, and he turned to God. When the mythical Troubles return to plague his small village of Haven, he loses the ability to feel and takes it as a sign from God to forsake the touch of women. He devotes his life to the priesthood, but over the years finds it difficult to keep faith when so much suffering surrounds him… until a mysterious, blonde woman appears and seems to be the answer to his prayers. She seems to possess a preternatural ability to help the victims of the Troubles. She’s pushy, unorthodox, and above all, he can feel her touch. Despite his best efforts, he falls hard for Audrey Parker and she for him. He loves her determination, her moxie, her heart. But others have noticed Audrey as well. Accusations of witchcraft fly, and the local reverend leads a mob to rid Haven of her insidious magic. Nathan’s protests and pleas fall on deaf ears; Audrey is prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice for the people she has come to love as her own. Nathan watches helplessly as she's torn from this world and takes the Troubles with her. The town finds it difficult to rejoice, and Nathan regains his ability to feel just when it hurts the most.

Run - Air

Stay with me.

Stay in bed.

Stay like this,
on the hills
of my chest.

Don't wake up;
I feel strange
when you go.

Stop the night;
hold me tight,
holy girl.

The Sweetheart of the Sun - Choral Arts Ensemble

She stood breast-high amid the corn; golden light,
clasp’d by the golden light of morn
like the sweetheart of the sun.

Round her eyes her tresses fell,
but long lashes veil’d a light
that had else been all too bright.

Thus she stood amid the stooks,
praising God with sweetest looks:

Sure, I said, Heav’n did not mean
where I reap, thou shouldst but glean.
Lay thy sheaf adown and come;
share my harvest and my home.

The Lightning Strike (What If the Storm Ends?) - Snow Patrol

What if this storm ends
and I don't see you
as you are now ever again?

The perfect halo
of gold hair and lightning
sets you off against the planet's last dance.

Just for a minute,
the silver forked sky
lit you up like a star that I will follow.

Now it's found us,
like I have found you.
I don't want to run,
just overwhelm me.

What if this storm ends
and leaves us nothing
except a memory,
a distant echo?

I want pinned down,
I want unsettled.

I want to see you
as you are now,
every single day that I am living.

Be the lightning in me that strikes relentless.

The Last Snowfall - Vienna Teng

If this were the last slow curling
of your fingers in my palm,
if this were the last I felt you breathing,
how would I carry on?

This is not the last snowfall,
not our last embrace.
But if I were that kind of grateful
what would I try to say?

Seasons of War - Jason Hayes

instrumental

Death Scene - Craig Armstrong

instrumental

Kobol's Last Gleaming - Bear McCreary

Omnia illa et ante fiebant,
omnia illa et rursus fient.

All of this has happened before,
And all of this will happen again.

Death of Toshiko - Ben Foster and Murray Gold

instrumental

Orchids - Sarah Fimm

We share a light.

But I long to love you like flowers do,
just to feel your sweet perfume.
I want you.

Will we never get to be?

The seeds lie, unaltered.
But on some planet, on some other moon
we bloom still.
I love you.

Like a Song - Lenka

Time, make it go faster;
or just rewind to back when
I'm wrapped in your arms

You left a light on inside me,
my love.

I can remember the way that it felt
to be holding on to you.

I can't forget you when you're gone;
you're like a song
that goes around in my head.
And how I regret…

Requiem in D Minor (Lacrimosa) - Mozart

Lacrimosa dies illa,
Qua resurget ex favilla
Judicandus homo reus.
Huic ergo parce, Deus:
Pie Jesu Domine:
Dona eis requiem. Amen.

That day is one of weeping,
on which shall rise again from the ashes
the guilty man, to be judged.
Therefore spare this one, O God,
merciful Lord Jesus:
Give them rest. Amen.

Some notes, for fun:

Yes, there are some I marked instrumental that do have words. I don't have the lyrics; if you can find them, I'd be happy to put them up!

Most of these are from some dorky hobby of mine or other. We've got one from Doctor Who, one from Torchwood, on from BSG (which I actually don't watch. Imagine that, something I don't watch. I think I don't just so I can say there's something scifi related to which I'm not addicted), two from World of Warcraft, and two that I've sung with Duke Chorale because I'm a choral music geekwad.

"Maid with the Flaxen Hair" comes standard with the download of the iTunes programs these days. Pretty sure I'm 1) the first person to listen to it, and 2) the first person to find a use for it.
