society

Today, she collapsed on my floor.

She's had it with the straightening irons and the makeup and the puking. She's dead. Thanks to you.

She was only thirteen. You freaking suck, society.

- Six Billion Secrets

The media is always pushing an image of what a women should be like and it's beginning to disgust me. I'd like to say this is a rare case but it isn't and high school is a hard and vicious time. You conform to society or you're an outsider. You have to follow the latest trends or you'll be behind and be made fun of. You have to be slim and good looking. All these wants, all these things we apparently "need" to do drive women, beautiful women to change themselves. They starve themselves, they wear makeup to cover imperfections, they fall in line into nothing more then a shallow image of who they were. Change needs to happen because since when did being different have to hurt so much?
