Before class last night the professor made an announcement that two members of the class have achieved academic excellence and have been invited to join Beta Gamma Sigma, an honors society for graduating students of business. Well I was one of the two.
So I'm thinking to myself, whats the catch? Why the hell do I care? Whats in it for me?
He handed me and this other guy a sealed manila envelope with a packet inside. When I got home I opened it and looked, read the letter, etc. Sure enough, yeah, I've been invited, and only the top academic 20% of graduating masters students at accreditted business schools are invited and for the honor if I would send them a check for $70 for lifetime membership, it would just be swell.
So I've been researching it and I can't really find anything bad about it. Meaning no one out there is saying this is a scam, they just want your money. I really can't find anything about what the tangible benefits are. And from what I can ascertain it is fairly widespread.
Any opinions?
