So, my friends had a white elephant gift exchange at our holiday party, and Steve's present was the best and funniest gamer-themed gift I can think of.
The gift was a medium-sized white cardboard box with one end labelled "UP". Inside, the box was full of packing paper; searching through the paper revealed a small envelope wrapped in bubble wrap. Inside the envelope was a note that read, "Congratulations! You have succeeded at a DC 10 Search check."
Inspection of the interior of the box revealed a false bottom. Removing the false bottom revealed a candy cane attached to a second envelope. In this envelope was another message: "Your DC 15 check was still not high enough to find the treasure. Get help from your party."
Further inspection revealed a second false bottom, firmly attached to the box. After borrowing a knife to cut through the bottom, the gift was revealed: a DVD of Fearless.
The best part was watching the recipient wading through a pile of packing paper, saying, "OK, I know it's in here SOMEWHERE," and then realizing he'd been had. :)
