Well, my friend actually got her tragus pierced, which is that little piece of cartilage right in front of the ear canal, pretty much just below my rook. According to the guy at BodyTech, local piercing shop, the industrial, tragus, and rook are some of the most painful piercings they do.

However, everyone's pain tolerance is different. I personally think that the rook hurt more than my cartilage, but I got my cartilage done at Claire's with a gun, which makes it quick, but not good. This wasn't that bad, it hurt for the most 1 second. Then you get the blood rush and the same feeling you get as a bruise. I got it just yesterday, so it's still a bit sensitive. But if it hurts, just take a shower and run hot water over it, and it feels just fine.

I really love the piercing, and it doesn't hurt that much afterwards if you have a good piercer. I mean, the only time I actually feel any pain now is if I bump it against anything. Which usually is never because it's pretty tucked in there. For like the first week, i expect taking sweaters and shirts off to be a bit difficult, but I'm sure it'll be like my cartilage and be okay after that.

Haha, that was quite the rant, I hope I answered your question though?

Haha you definitely answered. I guess I'd say I have a decent pain tolerance because getting my septum and lip pierced didn't bother me at all. I just have this idea of anything cartilage being ridiculously painful.

That's a pretty decent fear. I mean since the cartilage is a bit stiffer, it not only is a little painful, but also has a crunch factor because you can hear it. I mean, just take a deep breath in as they pierce you, and all you'll really feel is a pinch and the blood rushing toward the piercing. I'm not going to lie, I got a little nauseated, but not enough to bring me down. Septums sound like they are pretty painful, so I'm thinking you'll be fine.
