When I was in high school, one of my favorite places to shop was the young adult section of Barns and Noble. As time passed, I began to notice a trend. Most of the covers were pastel (usually pink) and had cute illustrations on the cover. Personally, one of my favorite books as a teen (that seemed to be male slanted) was Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky. The problem is that my copy is pastel-ish green. So maybe some guys don't realize it's a book for them.

OOh that was one of my favorites during freshman year (as well as Speak). I did notice that I saw a lot more girls reading it then guys though.

I do think that is a judging a book by its cover though since the girly green cover is the one that seemed to be popular at that time.
